Middle School Swap Day

Our CM2 and middle school students “swapped” places for the day on Wednesday, 11/11. CM2 got to experience life in middle school while middle school students revisited some of their favorite memories from elementary school, including recess! Our middle school students held a special Q&A session where CM2 asked questions and learned how middle school is different from elementary school, with more freedom, autonomy, and responsibility. Thank you to our CM2 and middle school teaching teams for making this a fun day for all our CM2-4è students. We look forward to welcoming our CM2 students to 6è next August!

Virtual Middle School Night

AIS hosted our CM1 & CM2 families for a virtual Middle School evening this week as we shared information about our program and showcased our Middle School teaching team. Thanks to our parents who were in attendance and for those who missed it, you may review the slides and recording here. CM2 families, check your inboxes next week for Middle School letters of intent and enrollment information. If you have any questions or would like to meet individually, feel free to reach out to Ms. Emily or Mr. Jacques to discuss our middle school program further.

International Week-11/16-11/20

Are you ready to learn about the Ivory Coast, Dominican Republic, Portugal, Demark, Poland, Ethiopia, and more? We certainly are! We are excited to celebrate International Week next week. Students will study different countries and will exchange their learning experiences with other classes. While we cannot host our typical community potluck, we look forward to showcasing our students’ work with you through our International Week Padlet! Check back next week as a passport to our student explorations.

A Season of Giving-Make an IMPACT!

This year more than ever, we have all been challenged with new and unprecedented events. We know this has impacted individuals, families, and all of us as a global community. During these times, we have grown even more thankful of our own school community and partnership with each and every one of you. It has been said before but rings absolutely true, we really are all in this together and as a community, we are greater when we support and lift each other up. By now, most of you have received Annual Fund packets in your mailboxes along with a one-stop giving envelope which outlines our initiatives for the year.

Our Annual Fund drive, launched each fall, starts our giving programs for the year. As a non-profit, our overall contributed support goals help bridge the gap between what we receive from tuition and fees and the higher expense per student to run our programs. We hope you can join us in making an IMPACT. Our Annual Fund Inspires Meaningful Progress And Change Together. Annual Fund gifts make an impact on what we are able to deliver to our students each day.

We understand that not everyone is able to give now or support all of our fundraising programs. However, if you can only support one effort during the year - we ask that it be via an Annual Fund gift. If we raise just $100 per student, we will reach our Annual Fund goal of $15,000, and your giving may even be broken up into smaller monthly installments.

We thank those generous families who have already supported: The Musalem, Behar, Strüb, Roth, Hillin, Herath, Nabeth, and Gates families. So far, we have raised $4,010 for our Fund and $500 in support of other program areas. You may give online here to support our Annual Fund or to other program designations here (like STEAM, Library, Playground, Fund Run, etc.), drop the self-addressed return envelope in the mail, or pass it to us at drop-off. We thank you for your partnership and support. Let's reach that goal by December 31st!

Staying Safe During the Holidays

Thanksgiving Break/No School-11/23 thru 11/27

Even though this year is different in so many ways, we are looking forward to celebrating International Week and Thanksgiving in the coming weeks! For the health and safety of our community—and to ensure that our school can keep operating smoothly—it is important for all families to take extra precautions this holiday season. We request that you think carefully before engaging in any high risk activities (e.g., attending events, hosting dinners, traveling, etc.) and that if you have, you seek testing prior to returning to school. Per APH guidelines, if you are awaiting test results, you are not permitted to come on campus, so please allow time to complete tests before returning to school. Please remember that if during the holiday season you are in close contact with any person who has COVID-19, you must complete a 14 day quarantine. The CDC defines close contact as being within 6 feet or someone, with or without a mask, for 15+ cumulative minutes within a 24 hour period. At a time when COVID-19 cases are increasing across the city, state, country, and globe, we are reminded that masks, physical distancing, and good hygiene are essential to protecting ourselves and each other. For tips to stay safe during the holidays, please consult APH’s Holidays During COVID-19 flyer.
