September 24th-28th
Highlights from this week:
Shared Reading - Our class began a retelling project where students wrote about the setting, characters, beginning, middle, and end of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Students also practiced rotating through three guided reading stations - read to self, read to someone, and work on writing.
Writing - Our class worked on a five sentence story to describe things that they liked. Students also edited their writing to include appropriate capitalization and punctuation.
Science - Our class investigated and answered the focus question "Why do leaves change colors in the fall?" through nonfiction books, scientific articles, and observed these changes during a nature walk.
Math: Students completed the September Math calendar and made final predictions about patterns they saw within the calendar. We wrapped up this month with a game of Teen Number bingo. The focus for this week was on different ways to measure, what can be measured, and estimating measurements.
