SM Parents As Teachers Newsletter
February 2020
Update from Dr. Leigh Anne Neal
Our Parents as Teachers program is currently engaged in the Quality Endorsement and Improvement Process through the national Parents as Teachers office. This rigorous process includes a comprehensive review of our program. Earning this Quality Endorsement will confirm that we are meeting national quality standards for Parents as Teachers programs. To help make sure families are getting quality services, a representative of the national Parents as Teachers office may conduct a family file review. We appreciate our families' support as we complete this reflective quality improvement process.
To help us share the exciting activities and programs offered through SM Parents as Teachers, we would like to capture photos at some of our parent/child activities and parent education programming. Please be sure to sign a photo release for your child. Just a reminder that Shawnee Mission is fortunate to have a Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for Parents as Teachers. If you have not yet signed up to be a member of the SM PAT PTA, please be sure to do so. Included in your membership is the cost of many of the PTA-sponsored activities. Additionally, SM PAT PTA members receive advanced sign-up notification for PTA-sponsored activities/events.
The Shawnee Mission School District strives to offer high quality services through the Parents As Teachers program. Please contact me, leighanneneal@smsd.org or 913-993-6412, with any questions or feedback regarding the program.
