HAPPY THANKSGIVING to ALL of OUR BEAR FAMILIES!
Students Leading Their Learning
FASTBRIDGE Assessment
At Hannah Beardsley, we will complete our second Fastbridge screening round on December 7th and 8th. We will assess ELA on Tuesday the 7th and Math on Wednesday 8th. Students need to have updated their Chromebooks and bring their headphones.
These assessments are used by the district and your student's teacher team to see academic growth and assist with intervention placements during XLT. District 155 will also use these scores as a reference for high school placements for our 8th-grade students.
Suicide Prevention and Depression Awareness
Cell Phone Policy- from the D47 Student Handbook
Students are allowed to have a cell phone or smartwatch at school as long as it is turned off from 7:40 a.m. to 2:14 p.m. Cell phones must remain in the student's locker or backpack at all times during the school day. Smartwatches are not to be used as internet access or cellular devices during the school day. Note: Middle school lockers should be locked when not in use. The school/district is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen personal property.
Exceptions - Students who require access to a cell phone, app, or another electronic device to monitor a medical condition or fulfill an IEP or 504 plan accommodation will be allowed to carry their device during the school day. However, these students will be expected to use the device only for this purpose and must obtain prior approval from the school administration.
Additional things to note:
District 47 treats any electronic device with the capability to call, text, or take photos as a cell phone/smartwatch. If a student uses the device inappropriately and/or if it causes a disruption during the school day, the device will be confiscated and taken to the school office. Consequences will be implemented and are defined in the handbook on the district website.
If a student needs to make an emergency call during the day, the student should request permission to go to the main office and use the phone. If parents need to contact their child during the day, they should call the school’s main office.
Cell phones will not be allowed on field trips and should be set to silent/vibrate while riding to and from school on a school bus.
PTO Meeting Schedule for 2021-2022
PTO Meeting Schedule Change
The HBMS PTO has made a significant change in our meeting schedule. With so many demands on our family calendars and more and more committee business being conducted electronically, we have made the decision to reduce the number of meetings. We looked at other area PTO group calendars and discovered many have reverted to quarterly meetings, so we are hopping onboard. Please note the revised meeting schedule:
November & December: Cancelled
January 11, 2022 As Scheduled
February: Cancelled
March 8, 2022 As Scheduled
April 12: Cancelled
May 10, 2022 As Scheduled
Also, we will need some new PTO officers next year. If this is something you are contemplating and want more information about how you can serve and support your school, please contact Margie Palmer. (margiepalmer5@gmail.com)
