Seymour Newsletter
November 2023
I am thrilled to reflect on the incredible month of October that we just experienced at Seymour! It was, indeed, an awesome month, filled with achievements, growth, fun activities and a sense of unity that continues to grow here at school! Some events and activities included: Candy Bar Bingo, Family Night at Flushing Farms, The Seymour Pumpkin Patch, Homecoming Pep Rally Assembly, Halloween Parties and Parade, and Walk for the Win to name a few.
Speaking about Walk for the Win I wanted to take a moment to express our deepest appreciation for your support during this fundraiser. Your support during this helps to ensure that our students have opportunities in the classroom and beyond to broaden their horizons and enhance their educational experiences. This year we were able to raise over $8,000 dollars that will be used to help support our classroom teachers and allow extra opportunities for our students.
Now we move to November, and it is an exciting time of the year as we approach the holiday season. November is often associated with Thanksgiving, a time for reflection and gratitude. We will be focusing on the character trait of Gratitude during our Positivity Project lessons during the Month of November. Please take time to discuss Gratitude with your students and have them share what they are learning at school.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent/Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, November 8th from 4:15 to 8:15 p.m. and Thursday, November 9th from 4:15 to 8:15 p.m. This is a great opportunity to communicate with your child's teacher. Conferences give you a better understanding of the grade level expectations, classroom procedures, and your child's overall performance, that often grades alone cannot provide. Also, your child's teacher can relate specific concerns that they many have at this time as well. Come prepared with any questions that you may have about your child's attention during class, how they use their time in class, and if assignments are completed and turned in on time. Your child's teacher is there to provide you with ideas and suggestions on how to keep your child successful while in school. I hope that all parents are able to participate in conferences. If you still need to schedule one, please contact the office at your convenience. We look forward to seeing you all on November 8th or 9th.

Automatic Calling System
Please help us out and do your part at home! When you receive a phone message, listen to the message in its entirety before calling up to Seymour Elementary to ask "why you received a phone call from the school". That will prevent a flood of phone calls during the busy time of the school day here in the office! We thank you for your help and your cooperation!
