Reaching Out ~ Newsletter 5-3-19
From Mrs. Wohlfiel, Interim Principal
The sun does finally shine!
As I am typing this, the sun is finally shining and is reflecting off the cars in our parking lot onto the computer screen. The past few days have been raining, overcast and, for those who do not like that type of weather would say, pretty “yucky”. But, we all know the sun will return eventually to dry up the rain, inspire growth and warm our skin. Knowing the sun will return helps to pull us through those “yucky” days.
Thank you sun!
Thanks to all of you who took the opportunity to share your opinions and concerns with our school board members about the future of our school. Thanks also to our school board members for taking the time to listen. Together we are being thoughtful, purposeful and meaningful in the best interest of all of our learners.
Congratulations to the students who represented Stone Bank at the math meet held at Swallow this past week - James Bakar, Connor Vassak, Paige Taylor, Nick Gilroy, Kaitlyn Tarkowski, Charlie Merck, Bella Pulvermacher, Holly West, Jackson Brunner, Myla Brunner, Bella Samz, Wade Lindmark, Katie Kysely, Maddy Schlozen, Dorothy Newman, Avry Lindmark, James Norcross, Meghan McKenna and Theus Diorio.
Our volleyball season is wrapping up in these next two weeks. The boys are participating in the AMSAC tournament this weekend at Arrowhead High School and the girls will compete in their AMSAC tournament next week. Best of luck to all of our teams as they represent all of us. Go Chiefs!
Our SBS PTO “Travel Agency” and our community is recognizing the BEST TEACHERS and STAFF in the WORLD during National Teacher Appreciation Week. Celebrations such as these are deeply appreciated by everyone. Thanks to all who are involved in showing how much our teachers and staff are cherished.
Our SBS PTO is also raising money for items to be used by the middle school during recess through our first Color Run. The event is May 22 - mark your calendars. Their Culver’s night is also right around the corner on May 14. This is another way to support our PTO and eventually, our learners.
Our Student Council is hosting their final Bagels with Buds Thursday, May 16. We appreciate all of the planning, work and early morning show time!
I wanted to remind everyone that the summer school registration has opened. Stone Bank typically has one of the highest attendance numbers! Don’t wait too long to register as classes fill up quickly.
And finally, Mother's’ Day is Sunday, May 12. Don’t forget to spoil her!
Thank you and have a great weekend! The forecast says the sun will be shining, in front of the clouds that is!

3rd Annual SBS Fest
On Wednesday, June 5th, we will celebrate the end of another successful school year with our 3rd Annual SBS Fest!
Mission Statement: A fun Stone Bank event that promotes unity, builds community and celebrates the completion of the school year.
SBS Fest will be an event where students travel with their team to activity stations including Field Day Games, Relay/Olympic Games, Indoor Carnival and Outdoor Carnival. Students will need to bring a snack, a water bottle and cold lunch (labeled with student name) or order one through school.
We are looking for 5K-7th grade parent volunteers to help with the day’s activities. Please use this link to sign-up.
We will also be seeking donations/usage of sport wagons, 5-gallon water dispensers, and shade tents for the day.
SBS Student Council will sell tickets for carnival games and crafts.
We are excited about SBS Fest and look forward to celebrating with the whole SBS community! Please keep an eye out for more information.

SBS Has Talent
Does your student participate in activities outside of Stone Bank School? Does he or she show skills or talent in that area?
We would LOVE to have pictures of our SBS students participating in their areas of talent. Our yearbook includes pictures of student clubs, school sponsored sports and competitions, but we’d like to highlight additional areas of talent that our students have.
We are building a bulletin board collage that shows students exhibiting/participating in their non-school activities.
Please send in a picture of your student (no larger than 5x7) so that we can place it on our Stone Bank has TALENT board in the commons. Pictures should be sent to the office in an envelope labeled Student Council/Sra. Hoffman. If you would like your picture back be sure to label your student’s name and homeroom teacher on the back of the photo.
Watch for the photo display on the bulletin boards in the commons. We hope to have them completed before the Spring Concert and Art Walk.
Thanks,
Student Council and Gifted and Talented

School Supplies for 2019-2020
Parents, it's time to start thinking about next school year already! Once again the PTO is offering you the opportunity to save valuable time and money by ordering your child's school supplies for the 2019-2020 school year through EPI School Supplies. Ordering will be available online only through the quick and convenient website which will be up and running next week. Look for a flyer to come home with your children containing the school's login information. All orders must be completed by June 16th. We have made a few changes this year based on teacher and parent feedback. For those of you who ordered last year, you may notice a slight price increase, this is mainly due to ordering high quality, name brand products, like Crayola and Kleenex. Also, this year, there will be several items that will be optional to add to your supply box, such as calculators, headphones, earbuds, locks, and supply cases, for those who already have these items or would like to purchase these items elsewhere. As always, please double check your school supply list. The EPI boxes will contain most everything your child will need, but you will need to supply some things on your own, such as backpacks and gym shoes. Supply boxes will conveniently be delivered directly to school in August. We urge you all to please consider ordering your supplies through EPI, as it not only saves you time and money, but benefits the PTO fundraising efforts!
For questions, contact Rebecca Pautsch at RLREDMOND3@yahoo.com.
Attention Sports Fans
Here’s your chance to get some new ARROWHEAD or STONE BANK SCHOOL apparel and support the Booster Club in the process. The Booster club provides uniforms for the school basketball and volleyball teams as well as equipment for the teams. All teams need new uniforms, and the volleyball nets need replacement. Buy a shirt or sweatshirt and support the cause! These items make a great GRADUATION gift!
Place your order from on our online store anytime from Friday, May 3rd to Thursday, May 16th. Orders will be ready for pick up from Mid-City Sports after June 5th, 2019.
School Board Changes
Free Challenges
Four clever 7th grade students are posting challenges for our SBS students in the Middle School hallway with the heading, “Need a Challenge? Free Take One!” The response has been overwhelming positive with students taking challenges as they walk by the bulletin board as young as 1st grade all the way through 8th grade. The weekly winners were:
Jackson Brunner, Grade 8
Emma Danes, Grade 7
Bryce Martin, Grade 2
Noami Lindmark, Grade 2
To qualify for the weekly drawing, a student must take a challenge, complete it correctly and drop it in the envelope for a weekly drawing. A big Thank You to Avry Lindmark, James Norcross, Carson Krogmann, and Meghan McKenna for your creative challenges: riddles, recipes, science experiments, analogies, trivia, and more! Mrs. Jacobsen
