College Application Night
On September 12th at 6:30 p.m in the EHS auditorium, seniors and their parents or guardians should plan to attend a meeting explaining the college application process as well as instruction on using Naviance and other important pieces of information regarding college. If you are unsure about attending college you should plan on attending this meeting to prepare you for the possibility of applying to college. Prior to this meeting it may be helpful for you to check out the Common Application and log onto your Naviance account to re-familiarize yourself with the site. You will use Naviance to request materials for your college application. If you do not attend this meeting you will miss vital information regarding the college application process.

See Your School Counselor
Seniors please schedule a meeting with your school counselor to discuss your plans after high school whether you plan to go to college, straight to work, the military or take a gap year. If you are applying to college and you know you have an early deadline in October or November please make an appointment to meet with your counselor before September 29th. Your school counselor will need to go over information with you that will help expedite your transcript release process. It is important to follow the 3-week request deadline for transcripts and recommendations. . Come to the Sept. 12th evening meeting to learn more.
College Visits to Essex High School
Throughout the fall, college admissions representatives will visit Essex High School to meet with students. This is a great opportunity for you to introduce yourself, get your questions answered about their programs and show them how interested you are in their college. If you would like to visit with a college while they are here, see Ms. Cunningham-Firkey in the School Counseling Office for a purple pass. Check out Naviance for a list of visiting colleges.
College Fair
On September 19, 6:30-8 p.m. the University of Vermont will host the NEACAC annual college fair in Patrick Gymnasium. This fair is very large! You should check the list of NEACAC fair participants and go with a plan of whom you would like to speak with. Having prepared questions for those schools will help you in your dialogue with the college admissions representatives. Colleges will ask you to fill out a card with your contact information. Instead of writing your name many times, bring labels with your contact info on it, name, address, phone number and email address.
