Refuge Youth Weekly Update

Sept. 2nd, 2015

September is Here! (and we've got a fancy new newsletter!)

I can't believe it's already September--fall is almost upon us and the Pumpkin Spice Latte is almost here! I love that this time every year we can count on the weather to get cooler, the leaves to change colors, and the days to get shorter. I'm so thankful for a God that gives us seasons of change on the calendar and throughout our lives! Change in seasons doesn't just mean different weather and new drinks at Starbucks, but it can mean bigger and exciting transitions: a new school, a new job, new friendships and relationships, or simply a refocusing on our relationship with God. I am so excited for what God is bringing to Refuge over this new season, and as we transition to fall from summer we will shift focus as a ministry.

This summer we focused on fellowship (Games War!) and service/missions (Till the Soil Trip!), it was an awesome summer to grow in relationship with one another and to have the opportunity to serve with one another! Plus we had a ton of fun! Now as the school year gets into full swing and the seasons change we are shifting our focus a bit. This fall we will focus on evangelism/outreach with events like See You at the Pole and we'll be talking about why we invite friends to church/youth group. Discipleship will also be an area of focus as we have started our Guys Bible Study and hopefully another for the girls in our group. And finally, as always, we're gonna have a lot of fun the whole way through.

And though our focus might be different we will never stop worshiping our God, nor pursuing a relationship with Jesus Christ! Ultimately, even though seasons change, we know God never changes and that is where we can find hope for the future!

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." Hebrews 13:8

Question Box Night--Week 2

Sunday, September 6th 6-8pm

This past Sunday we had such a great discussion based on the question you all have been asking over the past few months! Such a great conversation, in fact, that this Sunday will be another week of the Question Box. We had lots of new questions spurred on based on this week's conversation, and if you've got another question it's not too late to throw it in. Should be a great night!

See You At the Pole

Wednesday, September 23rd

On Wednesday, September 23rd the 25th annual See You At the Pole day of prayer will be happening on school campuses all over the world! Over 2 million students will be uniting together in prayer lifting up their campuses. As we continue to talk about SYATP at youth group in the coming weeks think of ways you can be a part or organize a SYATP event on your school campus. Remember this is a student lead event that is a great way to share God’s love and shine as a light on your school campus.
