A Letter from PTA

Hello AMMS Families,

Thank you all for your support and willingness to help out the PTA!

The Board has been working hard all summer to make sure we were prepared this year to support the students, school and our community.

We have had an amazing response from parents that are interested in volunteering! Here are a few current opportunities:

We still have an open VP position of Finance. Under VP Finance are the following Chair positions, Membership, Spiritwear, School Store and Business Sponsorship.

Our School Store is open, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday’s. Currently all volunteer slots are filled for this semester but please reach out to us if you are interested in helping, we can always use the extra help!

We are also looking for someone who loves taking pictures, to help our VP Communication to post pictures on our social media during school events and socials.

There will be future volunteer opportunities and other committees that we will let you all know about.

Membership and Spiritwear will be available through August and will close after Curriculum Nights. Please login to Membership Toolkit if you haven’t and update your student and family information.

We will be launching our new website very soon! Please be on the lookout for it, it will have all the information you will need for the PTA!

We are looking for business sponsors, if you own a business and are interested please let us know. We want to support our community!

Please reach out to us with any questions or concerns at autreymillpta@gmail.com

With Warmest Regards,

Jennifer & Wendy

Frequently Asked Questions!

Q. What is the procedure for picking my student up early?

A. If a student needs to be picked up early, a note should be sent with the student to the front office in the morning, stating the time the parent would like him/her at the front office. The student will get it stamped by the office and this is the pass to come up front to be checked out. We do this so as not to interrupt the class and instructional time. Please do not call the front office requesting your child be sent to the front office. Once you are in the building we can call them up.

Q. What if my student forgets something and I need to bring it to school?

A. While we hope that students come prepared each day, we have 3 light blue carts in front of the front office windows labeled by grade level. We have a table next to the carts stocked with tape, markers and paper for labeling items dropped off. Place the item on the cart of your students grade level. Unfortunately, we do not call students for forgotten items. The student may pick up items between classes or at lunch time from the cart.

Q. What if my student forgets his/her device?

A. Parents can drop the device at the front desk where we keep them until the students come to get them. It is the students' responsibility to pick them up between classes or at lunch time. Unfortunately, we are unable to call into classrooms for forgotten items.

Q. What if my child gets sick at school?

A. If your student feels sick during the school day he/she should always go to the clinic. The clinic needs to keep a record of students who are ill. Students SHOULD NOT call or text on their cell phones or smart watches for parents to pick them up.

Q. Is my child allowed to use their cell phone to call home?

A. Cell phones are not allowed to be used during school time. There is a phone in the front office if the student needs to call home. We encourage students to come prepared to school each day, thus the phone is for emergencies only.

Q. Where do I turn in student attendance notes?

A. If your student is out of school, there needs to be a parent or doctors note sent into the front office within 5 days of being absent.

You may email Jackie Dejo at Dejo@fultonschools.org.

Q. Do I need my ID when checking out my student?

A. Please be prepared to show your ID when checking out your student. This is for the safety of our students, faculty and staff.

Q. What if my students needs medication at school?

A. Students are not allowed to carry medications with them at school unless they have a permission form (SHS-2) signed and on file in the clinic. This includes prescription and over the counter medications of any kind.

Q. What time is the school store open?

A. The school store is open from 8:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Q. What time are students allowed into the school in the morning?

A. The school opens at 8:00 a.m.

Q. Do I need to call the front office if my student is sick for the day?

A. You DO NOT need to call the front office if a student is out sick. Upon returning to school. send a note to the front office and the attendance will be adjusted.

Q. What if my child comes to school late?

A. Parents DO NOT need to bring children in if they are late. Students DO have to report to the office to get a pass to their classroom.

Q. Are students allowed to leave the building without checking out?

A. A parent MUST always come to the front office to check students out of school. This is for the safety of the student.

Note: 1. If someone else is checking your student out they must be on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal Contact list.

2. You may also send a note in with your student with the first and last name of the person picking your child up.

Remember to always send a note with your student to the front desk the morning of the check-out. Please be prepared to show your ID.

ATTENTION 7TH AND 8TH GRADE STUDENTS WHO WANT TO TRY OUT FOR THE CO-ED SOCCER TEAM:

There will be a mandatory meeting for students only this Friday August 13th at 8:45am in the gym.

Please go to Fulton County Schools website here to fill out the player participation forms. Please print and sign these forms. You may send them in with your student. These forms must be completed prior to each sport tryout. If your student cannot attend this meeting there will be a signup sheet on C-117 door. This is Coach Shelnutt's room.

Try outs are Thursday, August 19th and Friday, August 20th right after school.

Student Checkout Procedures

To ensure a more efficient way to check your child out of school during the day, please adhere to the following:

In an effort to avoid interrupting instructional time with the intercom, students need to bring a note designating the time that they should meet you in the front office. Notes should be brought to the front office in the morning for authorization. The signed note will allow your child to leave class at the designated time and meet you in the front office. If students do not have a note we will not call them to the office until parents are at the school to sign them out. (for example, we cannot call them out of class when you call from your car) For this reason, you may experience delays if your child does not have a note giving prior notification of early dismissal.

Your cooperation with our check in/out procedure will help keep classroom interruptions to a minimum and will get your on your way in a timely manner.

School Safety

For the safety of our students, faculty and staff, the front office is asking that you be prepared at all times to show ID when signing out your student, coming in for a meeting or dropping off items in the office. All visitors must be checked in and given a badge to be in the building. We ask that visitors go directly to and from their designated location regarding the purpose of their visit to AMMS.

Thank you!

It's the beginning of the school year and there is a lot to be done to get your student settled. Ensuring your student is taken care of in the clinic, in terms of food allergies, asthma, diabetes and other health conditions, is very important to Autrey Mill. If you need help in getting paperwork done or have questions about medications for your student, please feel free to contact the clinic from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. Thanks and I look forward to a healthy and safe year! If you have questions or concerns please call the clinic directly at 470-254-8258.

Forgotten Items

It is the students' responsibility to check the front office for all forgotten items (homework, lunch, lunch money, books, etc.) The office cannot interrupt classes to notify a student that an item is here. Parents may drop the item in the front office, place the student's name on the white board in front of the cafeteria, and the students will either check the office between classes or see their names on the white board at lunch. All forgotten iPads are kept behind the front desk until the student picks them up. Please be sure to label all forgotten items with students first, last name and grade!

Please remind your children of this procedure! Thank you!

FCS COVID 19 Reporting Procedures

FCS COVID 19 Reporting

Due to the ever-changing nature of this pandemic, the district will continue to monitor COVID data and recommendations, consult with public health officials, and make additional adjustments as necessary. If your child is sick, please keep them home. Families are still required to report a confirmed positive case of COVID-19, a pending COVID-19 test result (regardless of the reason for testing), and a direct contact with a person who is COVID-19 positive. FCS student/parents must use the Parent Reporting Portal to make the COVID-19 report.
