TIA Touchpoints
Vol. I, No. 1 | August 2022
WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!
We are glad to have all of you back for the start of a great 2022-2023 school year in Lubbock ISD. This is the first issue of a monthly TIA newsletter that the district will be distributing to keep you apprised of all things TIA in Lubbock ISD. First and foremost, we would like to congratulate our 219 designated teachers who will be receiving over $2,000,000 in additional compensation on their August paychecks.
This year, we have also doubled the number of teachers that are eligible in our local designation system for TIA. All eligible teachers will have an assigned category, which you can find in the newly updated TIA Teacher Playbook. If you have a question about which teacher category you are eligible for, ask you campus administrator or contact TIA@lubbockisd.org.
Getting Ready for Your Next Steps
Most of you should have already received your annual BOY TIA training on your campus. If you have not, please make sure you find the training video(s) that is right for your role.
Teachers who were part of our data capture last year (Teacher Categories 1-10), your data is currently with our district partners at SAS and the Center for Innovative Research in Change, Leadership, and Education (CIRCLE) for analysis. We expect to have your data back by the end of September so that we can update your information on the TIA Teacher Dashboard.
Teachers in every category should also be preparing to administer the TIA Pre-Test following the TIA Pre/Post Test Administration guidelines provided by the Curriculum & Instruction Department. This will be the first year many of our PE, Fine Arts, and CTE Teachers will administer an assessment like this, so please be sure to check with your campus testing coordinator and campus administrator for any questions or concerns.
All teachers should also be sure they are scheduled for a full T-TESS observation cycle. Teachers who do not complete T-TESS are not eligible for TIA because we cannot complete data capture.
Recent Highlights
The second change was to the Spending Plan, specifically addressing designated teachers leaving the district. Beginning with this year of service, 2022-2023, designated teachers who resign prior to payouts for a given year of service will no longer receive a payout. Instead, this money will be equally distributed amongst TIA eligible teachers at the campus from which they resigned. Teachers who retire will receive a final TIA payout from the district; teachers who pass away will have a final payment sent to their designated beneficiaries.
Notes from our District Leaders
Thank you to all of our educators who contributed to a great year of designations and a great year of campus accountability. We know you will continue your great work with our students and families.
