A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Greetings,
I hope that everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving meals and time with family and friends. The holiday season has officially begun and before we know it, winter break will be here.
After a brief hiatus from the fall season, the winter sports are now underway and we are super excited to once again offer Unified Basketball. For more information on Unified Sports, please CLICK HERE or visit https://ehtnjathletics.com/. A special congratulations goes out to Kiki Schlemo who was selected as one of 12 runners in the All South Jersey Cross Country Team. The student-athletes are voted on by the coaches in the “South Jersey Track/Cross Country Coaches Association”. Kiki is only the third female in EHTHS history to receive this honor.
On Wednesday, our students and teachers were able to preview the fall drama production of Blithe Spirit and Present Laughter. Blithe Spirit opened on Thursday night to a robust crowd and will show again on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. The Present Laughter performance will be held on Friday night at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. The doors will open thirty minutes before the performance. Please come out to support our students and see the show!!
We have some amazing students here at EHTHS. Matt Levine, Sawyer Dilks, Nusaiba Islam, Zoey Chen, Sadie Rahman and Gary Ruiz Hernandez were recognized as Commended Students in the National Merit Scholarship Competition. Commended Students are amongst the top 34,000 out of about 1.2 million students based on PSAT. This puts them in the top 3% of scores from across the country. Great job!!
Today, Ms. McGowan organized a "Where Are They Now" event for our English Language Learners (ELL). Former ELL students who have graduated, as well as current students who have exited the ELL program, will have a panel discussion with current ELL students. Topics will include what it is like to have left the ELL program and what to expect after high school. This is such an informative session for our students.
Until next Friday, have a wonderful weekend and stay dry!
Ms. Carugno

Interact assisted with the Food Bank's annual Turkey Drive at the EHT Shop Rite and we were so happy with the turnout! We also ran a diaper drive and canned food drive before the break and brought in quite the large donations for both- the food bank was ecstatic and told us our diaper drive donation was the largest single drive in our area in terms of donations. I am so proud of our club and our school and what we have been able to offer to those in need and can't wait to see what this Coat & Clothing Drive brings in!

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Upstanders of the Week
STUDENT: David Hare
NOMINATED By: Mrs. Terry
A student in our class was having a medical emergency. David stepped up to help me in a stressful situation and got another teacher so I could assist the student in the hallway. Way to go David!
STUDENT: Cassie Mendez
NOMINATED By: Mrs. Giordano
Cassie found a lone ear bud on the floor of the class and returned it to me. She knew who dropped it and the other student was so thankful to get it back. Cassie is always willing to participate and help her fellow classmates.
Orchestra and Choir
On Monday, the orchestra and choir programs hosted a dine and donate event at tacos El Tio. There was a huge turn out and it was great to see so many families and faculty members come out and support these two great programs.

#DAY 1
The High School will be continuing with this bullying-prevention program for this school year!
#DAY1--a staff and student-led philosophy that will serve to foster a building-wide atmosphere of kindness and inclusion.
This program was started a few years ago in Bergen County by the Tyler Clementi Foundation and has gained momentum throughout the state and country for use in schools, community groups, workplaces, and sports teams.
The premise is simple: the adults in the building make a “declaration statement” about behavior that is expected, as well as behavior that is unacceptable, and we all pledge to conduct ourselves accordingly. This includes seeking help when we witness unacceptable behavior occurring.
This notion is called being an #Upstander
Has your student taken their #Upstander Pledge yet?!?
Have them sign into their school account and click here! 😊
If you'd like more information on #Day1, please go to: https://tylerclementi.org/day1/
