Week 7 - October 2-6, 2017
English Language Arts
Our reading for this week will be I Need My Monster. During reading we will continue to make text-to-self connections. We will also practice identifying the main idea and supporting details in a story . We will use this information to sequence events. Finally, we will continue learning about various parts of speech. Specifically we will focus on proper nouns, or nouns that focus on a specific person, place or thing.
This week's spelling words have long-e or /ē/ sound. This is
the vowel sound you hear in the word bean.
Math
Social Studies
We will learn about the significance of various community, state, and national celebrations and customs.
Vocabulary = customs, celebrations, holidays, traditions, individualism

Reminders
- October 6th is an early dismissal at noon, followed by Fall parent conferences. Please sign up for conferences with your child's teacher. Per the CHA handbook, parent conferences are mandatory.
- School picture day is Wednesday, October 11 (the date on the CHA calendars is incorrect).
- Thank you for partnering with us and supporting us as we teach your child this year.
- Please be sure your child is in full uniform everyday including a solid color belt that is brown, black, white, red, tan or blue.
- Save the Date: October 31 Book Parade (keep an eye out for a letter home soon)
