New PTO fundraiser - The Orange Ruler Fun Run
We are excited to kickoff a new fundraiser this fall! Instead of selling items, your students will be participating in the Orange Ruler Fun Run on September 27! The fundraiser will last approximately two weeks starting with the assembly kickoff on September 10. Orange Ruler will be a fun-filled experience for the students and the school that focuses on teamwork, staying active, and believing in yourself. This fundraiser will help us raise needed funds for playground equipment for the west playground, as well as other items for learning
Please be on the lookout for a parent letter and donation envelope coming home the day of the kickoff, September 10. We appreciate your support of Woods Creek School!
If you have any questions, please contact Jackie Cooper at 847-533-5413.
Parent Night
Please note that due to the structure of the evening, our teachers will not have an opportunity to discuss individual students. Teachers are happy to schedule a time with you individually if you need to talk to them about your children and their individual needs.
Early Release Days
PBIS Update
Has your child come home telling you he or she is earning Cubs Cash or paws at school? Ask your child what they earned the cash or paws for. We spent the first few days of school learning our expectations in different areas of the school and now we are rewarding students with Cubs Cash and Paws for showing respectful, responsible and safe behavior at school.
Also, your child will be purchasing coupons for experiences with adults at school (ie lunch with the teacher) and/or prizes at our new Cubs Cart. The students will no longer go to Cubs Corner on a monthly basis (school store in previous years) but items will now be available for purchase more frequently. The cart will be available to students on a Friday and at least once every two weeks. We believe that making purchasing rewards available more often will make students more motivated to earn Cubs Cash at school.
Meet our new staff members!
We are so excited to welcome the following new staff members to our school:
Lindsay Bley (speech pathologist), Rachel Rasmussen (3rd grade teacher...and Woods Creek alum!), Allison Farney (STEM teacher), Gina Castrovillari (ELL teacher), Jordan Devine (Social Worker), Jori Brockway (5th grade teacher), Emily Crandall (4th grade teacher), Lauren Backe (part-time fine arts teacher)
