Principal's Message
Happy Friday Bobcat Families!
We had such a great time celebrating Read Across America Week! It's now time to switch gears and get in "Booster" mode for our PTO Fundraiser. Thank you in advance to all families who have donated thus far! We are well on our way to reaching our goal of $5000. Remember, this money will help with outdoor projects and secret garden enhancement.
Students will participate in character building and fun challenges throughout the next two weeks, culminating in the final Fun Run on March 16th. This will be an all inclusive, family friendly event during the school day. Stay tuned for more information!
We have an SIC and PTO meeting at 5:30 and 6:00pm on March 6th. Please then join us at Hometown BBQ at 7pm for Trivia Night.
5K-5th grade students will take STAR progress monitoring assessments next week. Please ensure they are on time and well fed. This is not part of the official district benchmarks but is an opportunity for us to assess how students are progressing towards reaching their goals on the same assessment once the district window opens in early May.
Stay safe this weekend and have an amazing weekend!

After-School CRP Classes Will Not Be Held
After-School CRP classes will not be held next week (March 6-10).
Students will need to go home their normal way at the end of the school day (2:30).
We will be restructuring our program and need this time for planning and preparing. Students will also be taking Star tests on March 7th (reading) and 8th (math), so this will give them a little bit of a break. Classes will begin again on March 14th.
AC Moore Elementary Families!
Today is the day! We are excited to launch registration for our AC Moore Elementary Boosterthon and Fun Run. Our goal is to raise $5,000 for outdoor updates and secret garden improvements in service to our school community.
What is a Boosterthon and Fun Run?
The Boosterthon and Fun Run is an 11 day program and is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year. Family and friends, near and far, are asked to pledge donations for each lap a student completes during the Fun Run on March 16th. Funds raised from this event go toward outdoor updates and secret garden improvements! Our goal is to raise $5,000.
Our school has always relied on fundraising to provide exceptional opportunities to enhance student learning and we need YOUR HELP registering your student(s) and sharing with friends and family.
Registering is easy and free! Please see directions on the flyer below. Just for registering, you can enter our PARENT/GUARDIAN RAFFLE to win a $50 gift card of your choice. In order to be eligible for the drawing, you must register before kickoff on 03/06/2023. Students also earn a prize if you register!
Be sure to check out the easy sharing functions on MYBOOSTER.COM to let others know how they can help support our school.
We are grateful for our AC Moore Elementary family! Thank you for your support this year.
Thank you,
Lauren McCauley and Katie Rankin

Superintendent's Book Club
It's that time of year again! The Superintendent's Book Club will begin March 6th and will go through Friday, May 5th. As part of this district wide challenge, preK-5th grade students will track their reading on provided book logs. Once they have read 100 picture books or 10 chapter-books, students will be official members of the Super Intendent's Book Club and will receive schoolwide recognition and an invitation to a school-wide celebration. In addition, those who join the book club by Tuesday, May 2nd will receive a free ticket to AC Moore Night at the Columbia Fireflies Stadium! More prizes for our top schoolwide readers will be offered as well as an invitation to a district celebration for top readers in the district! Happy Reading!
SEL Day--March 10, 2023
🍀 St. Pat's in Five Points 🍀
Join Us in the Parade!
Monday, February 27, 2023
Dear A.C. Moore Parents:
We are excited to let you know that once again, A.C. Moore Bobcats will be in the 5 Points St. Patrick’s Day parade on the morning of Saturday, March 18th! This is a festive, community event, and I am thrilled that we will be a part of the fun again! While Student Council members will be riding on the trailer/float, ALL A.C. Moore students and staff are invited to walk behind the trailer showing school spirit and letting the community know what an awesome school A.C. Moore is! The parade is at 10:00 AM, but we will meet before then. Please be on the lookout for DETAILED information regarding our pre-parade meeting location and the exact time.
There are three guidelines that all parade participants must adhere to:
- Each student must have one parent/guardian walking with them in the parade.
- Each student walking in the parade must have a signed permission form on file (see below.)
- Forms must be turned into your child’s teacher no later than Thursday, March 16th .
**It is not mandatory, but we would love for students to wear the A.C. Moore St. Patrick’s Day t-shirt that was recently designed. The shirts are $18.00, and order forms went home in a stapled PTO packet last week. It is preferred that ordering be done online through the link here. If ordering a t-shirt does not work for you, that is fine! Should that be the case please wear Bobcat blue or an A.C. Moore t-shirt. Green beads will be provided! We are looking forward to this fun event, and we hope that your child will be able to be a part of the celebration!
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Balthazor
Dear Richland One Parents/Guardians,
The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) is utilizing a climate survey for accountability/report cards this year as in the past. The delivery model for the survey will be the same as last year, with students in grades 3-12 taking the survey in the PowerSchool Student Portal and parents completing the survey in the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
Students will create a Student Portal account (if they don’t already have one) to access the survey when it becomes available. We will ensure that they still have access if they already have an account. Schools will assist students in grades 3-12 (especially third-graders) in creating and/or accessing their accounts.
Parent climate surveys are in the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If you do not currently have a Parent Portal account, please contact your student’s school, and they can assist you in setting up an account.
The climate survey will be available at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, February 27, 2023, and the survey will close at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023.
The schedule for students to complete the surveys will be between Wednesday, March 1, 2023, and March 31, 2023.
If you, as a parent/guardian, cannot gain access to the survey in the Parent Portal, please click on this link and complete the form.
Thank you.

A Bobcat Shout-Out to...📣
...Mrs. Balthazor and the Student Council Members!😺
Mrs. Balthazor and the members of A.C. Moore's student council volunteered during the Race for the Place, 5K and Children's One Mile Event on Saturday, February 25th. The students and their families braved the wet weather and chilly temperatures to support Homeless No More, and agency developed to assist families in need. Homeless No More offers a spectrum of housing and emergency services that work together to stabilize in-crisis and at-risk families, helping them achieve lasting independence.
Thank you again Mrs. Balthazor and Student Council for supporting such a worthy cause!
Thank You PTO!!
Thank you, PTO, for providing us with our monthly breakfast cart this week! 😋
Thank You Mrs. Warren!
A special thank you to Mrs. Warren, our Media Specialist, for organizing activities for Read Across America Week! It was an exciting week of reading activities and special dress-up days. Thank you to all of the students and families for your participation!

-------Parent Reminders-------
Need to Report an Absence for your Student? Click Below
Assignments for COVID Related Absences
For the 22-23 school year, students that are absent due to illness will receive any missed and/or make-up assignments upon return to school. They will have 5 days to return the completed work to their teacher. This is in accordance with AC Moore's typical absence policy. Devices and extended absence assignments will not be sent home this year. Virtual check-in sessions with students will also not occur. Those practices and procedures were in place as a result of Richland One's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bobcat Families--Please note that the neighbors directly across from the front of the school are having difficulties getting their trash picked up when vehicles are parked in front of their homes and along the edge of their yard. Your courtesy and consideration would be greatly appreciated in addressing their concerns. When visiting the school, please park in the visitors parking area at the corner of Etiwan Avenue and Rosewood Drive and along the street in designated parking spaces.
Important Carline Pick-up and Drop-off Reminders
In an effort to keep the carline safe for students and staff, it is requested that the following carline procedures be followed during the morning and afternoon carline.
- Please pull as far forward to the end of the carline (towards Rosewood Dr.) before stopping your vehicle to allow your student to enter/exit through the gate; do not stop at the main entrance to let students out of or into the car.
- Students are to get out on the passenger side of the carline only, not from the driver side, side facing the road.
- Parents should remain in the car and allow school staff to assist the students into or out of cars.
A Message from the YMCA
Happy New Year from the YMCA! It is my hope that you had a restful break. I am reaching out because available staffing is looking promising for the spring! As a result, we have space to expand our YMCA after-school programs. There are a number of spots available at A.C. Moore and we would like to extend to you an opportunity to enroll your student in the YMCA after-school program. Click the logo to the right to read detailed information about how you can sign-up your student or click here to visit the website.
