TTVA Weekly Newsletter
11/8/23
Note from the Principal
Greetings TTVA Families,
I'm excited to share some good news with you. Our first Student Work Session on November 3rd was a success. We had over 20 students participate. It is always great to see students face to face. It provided us an opportunity to check in, catch up and get some work completed. One highlight for me was working with a student to complete one of Ms. Brown's escape rooms. Overall, students had time to complete work, get help from staff, talk with peers and enjoy lunch together. If you weren't able to make it this time, don't worry. There are three more Student Work Sessions: January 19, April 5, and May 31. Save the dates now.
Second, I get to announce our RISE award recipients for the month of October. Last month we opened up nominations to help recognize the good things that students are doing. The students listed below were recognized by staff or peers for showing positive traits that help us rise above our challenges.
R - resilient or responsible: Angel, Martin, Birmania and Chira
I - imaginative or independent: Brando
S - self-advocate or supportive: Hanin, Adam and Olivia
E - empowered or enthusiastic: Kai and Cody
Way to go! We are proud of you.
Students, if you want to nominate someone for something positive they have done please complete this quick FORM. You can nominate students throughout the month of November.
As always thank you for being part of our community.
In partnership,
Jeni DeWolfe

Meet Our Staff
Ty Brack - HS Language Arts
About Mr. Brack
Hello everyone! I'm Mr. Brack, and this is my 2nd year here at TTVA as a high school Language Arts teacher, and it's my 16th year in education. I live in Tigard with my wife, Kelley, our two-year-old son, Kylo, and our amazingly fluffy Maine coon cat, Jeter. We love taking family walks at Cook Park, and Kylo loves the playgrounds out there. In addition to teaching, I also coach high school baseball with my dad and my brother at North Marion High School in Aurora. If I'm not on a baseball field, then I'm most likely competing in a poetry slam somewhere in Portland. In fact, just last summer, I was Oregon's rep in the National Poetry Slam competition in Des Moines, Iowa, and finished in the top 10! All that said, my favorite thing in life right now is the hour after dinner that my wife and I spend playing with Kylo. He does something new every night, and he is such a joy. Thanks for taking the time to read about me. I'm so happy to be part of the TTVA community!
Please email Principal DeWolfe jdewolfe@ttsd.k12.or.us if you are interested in volunteering this year.
