Since Janis was a heavy drinker and Southern Comfort was her drink of choice, the company gave her a lynx coat as a "thank you" for the increased sales.

Joplin is part of the infamous "27 club" of famous rockers that died at age 27 along with Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Brian Jones, and Jimi Hendrix.

Janis smashed a bottle of Southern Comfort over Jim Morrison’s head. Janis Joplin once got tired of Jim Morrison's total drunken belligerence at a party in San Francisco, so she smashed a bottle of Southern Comfort across Jim's head as he was sitting in his car.
2. We Will Remember You Bessie.
Joplin paid for the tombstone of her idol, blues singer Bessie Smith. After being killed in an automobile accident the singer was buried in an unmarked grave, which did not sit well with Janis.
1. Party On!!
In her last will and testament she left over $1,500 to her friends for a big party. She made these changes to her will just two days before her death. The tickets were printed with, “The drinks are on Pearl.”
