January News and Updates
Once again I'd like to thank you for partnering with us in your child's education. It's hard to believe we've hit the 100th Day milestone. In those 100 days we've seen classrooms open, buildings come to completion, playgrounds opened, family events hosted in the Multipurpose Room, coding in our Makerspace, small group instruction, collaborative learning, celebrated student achievevment - and the list goes on. As new staff members are added and new students join our Hansen community, one theme remains - "Hansen is a wonderful place to be." This feedback from staff, students, and parents reinforces all we've practiced. Our students have learned to ROAR and it shows.
I look forward to our upcoming activities and events and hope to see you there!

AMC8
"The AMC 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple choice examination in middle school mathematics designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills. The AMC 8 provides an opportunity for middle school students to develop positive attitudes towards analytical thinking and mathematics that can assist in future careers. Students apply classroom skills to unique problem-solving challenges in a low-stress and friendly environment." (www.maa.org)
Hansen Elementary School had the hightest number of participants in the district. We would like to commend the following participants for their efforts on this examination. News from the Hansen PTA
Hello Hansen Families
Happy New Year! I hope 2019 finds you and your family healthy and happy.
Reflecting back on our last month of 2018, PTA was happy to host a Winter Extravaganza. 200 excited young travelers accompanied by 400 adults, visited 12 different countries, learning about their culture’s celebrations, all in the comfort of our Multiple Purpose room. A huge thank you to Mrs. Housman and her amazing ASB students. They worked many hours researching and creating country stations designed to inform and entertain our travelers. Also, thank you to Mr. Andrade and his incredible choir who delighted us with some festive caroling. Of course our jolly visitor from the north, Santa Claus, was a huge hit with those young and old. Mr. Rosas’ snowball fight and games were enjoyed by all. Also thank you to our team of 7th and 8th grade parents who provided food, drink and of course POPCORN. They raised approximately $1000 which will be used toward 8th grade graduation festivities.
PTA was also excited to present a Mobile Planetarium and science class to our 3rd-8th graders. This exciting and unique experience not only entertained, but provided a unique way of presenting science curriculum in alignment to grade specific standards.
Our generous Hansen community showed its philanthropic spirit by donating boxes and bags of new clothes, toiletries supplies and gift cards to the Oroville Hope Center. Items were distributed to those affected by the Camp fire in Paradise. Your kindness was appreciated by those in need.
PTA is looking forward to other great events including Sami Curcuit and Family Fun Fitness night this Spring.
Our next Association Meeting will be in the Hansen Multi-purpose room.
We look forward to seeing you there.
