· This Week is a Primary Guidance Week
· I appreciate your patience as we examine our new morning procedures. The committee in charge of these procedures is already examining what went well and what did not. Updates to the procedures should be coming soon.
· More information on the structure/format of Eagle time will be coming soon. In the meantime, during your scheduled Eagle Time expect extra help in your grade level.
· 1st and 2nd grade assistants will start this week. 1st grade will have extra help 9:30 – 11:15 and 2nd grade 7:45 – 9:30.
· Part of your schedule this year involves planning time with Barbara and Sarah. Due to their other obligations, they have chosen their time for these meetings. Primary teachers will meet on Friday afternoon during your planning. Intermediate teaches will meet on Tuesdays during planning.
· One additional meeting will be your PLC meeting. I will be attending these meetings as my schedule allows. Please meet with your team this week to determine the best day/time for these meetings.
· If your team has not selected a Lighthouse committee member, please do so by Friday afternoon. Our first whole group meeting will be on Monday, 8/24.
· Each week I want to recognize the great things going on at Audubon. If you know someone who needs to be recognized, please let me know.

Living the Habits
This week we are talking about Habit 1: Be Proactive. Habit 1 is very easy to live when life is going great. We all know those days, you wake up early and feel like you slept an extra hour, you hit zero traffic and all green lights on the way to work, none of your students are cranky and that one student is out for the day. Having a great attitude on these days is easy. Keeping that attitude when times are dreary is what makes Habit 1 tough.
This year we will be discussing Mindset. Carol Dweck's work is essential to mastering Habit 1. If you are living in a Fixed Mindset you are certain to never conquer proactivity. Dweck believes not only that we must see every challenge as an opportunity, but that attitude toward the opportunities is essentially the difference maker. Tomorrow I will discuss with students the dangers of living in a fixed mindset and how every failure is an opportunity for them to learn and grow.
