Principals' Post
Given the growing national media coverage of the "Momo Challenge", we have witnessed on a first-hand basis many fears and anxieties in our students this week.
Please take some time to have an intentional conversation with your child about what they encounter online. Help them understand that, while the internet can be a wonderful resource, they may come across things at times that can be scary or inappropriate. Remind them that they are in control - they DON'T have to click on things and they can easily close or delete unwanted pop-ups, sites, or messages. Encourage them to ALWAYS report any inappropriate content they come across while online and to NOT share or pass it on to friends. Additionally, please assure your child that "challenge" videos saying that certain things could happen to them if they do not participate ARE NOT REAL. Reassure them that they are safe and they have the power to NOT participate in such challenges.
Please remind your child that, if they do bring a cell phone to school, the device is to be turned OFF and LEFT INSIDE THEIR BACKPACK. Cell phones are not to be used during the school day, especially to access non-school related, inappropriate content.
At this time, the NPD117 technology department is also aware of this and is taking steps to ensure students are not able to access such information on our school-issued devices. As always, in any situation, if your child feels that something is wrong, they should notify their “trusted heroes", either at home or at school.

Fit with Family!
Calling all #FitWithFamily photos! For March's Fitness themed PE bulletin board, Miss Gradman is looking for photos of your family being active together. Did you run the Howl through the Hills together? Family bike rides? Sledding or skiing photos?
If you have any photos you think would work for our March #FitWithFamily theme, please send them to Miss Gradman so your family can be highlighted on the bulletin board in the APR! Photos can either be sent in with your child, emailed to dgradman@npd117.net, or tag @MissG_PE on twitter so they can be printed out.
