Message from Colter Cox
STAAR testing is upon us, Texas Tech basketball is playing a national championship tonight, Texas legislatures are debating school funding as we speak.... there is a lot going on for the Central Elementary community. I’ve been watching social media and with these things in mind I see a common question from our community, “What are our priorities?” I won’t tell you what you should or shouldn’t do when it comes to school, basketball games, or voting but I can let you in on our priorities here at Central. Below is a message that was sent out to all staff this past week. Unedited, unchanged, here is a glimpse at what is important to us.
————————————————————————————————————————————————-
To quote Henry Ford; "Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right."
Over the next several weeks every single one of us will face tasks, deadlines, and challenges that may at times feel overwhelming, but to new and veteran educators alike I say: You can do it.
Some of us will start to feel the pressure of knowing we are almost out of time with some struggling students or situations and let me say over you: You are equipped, finish strong, you can do this.
The temptation will come in one way or another to utter the phrase, I can't (fill in the blank). My encourgement is this: with the right resource, I believe you can do all things.
With this being said, I want to share an expectation I have of all staff members - I expect you to believe that all our students can.
Believe that our kids can grow. Believe they can learn. Believe they can connect. Believe they can love and be loved. Believe they can shine. Believe they can do amazing things.
Finally, If you believe they can, then I also ask that you tell them. Write the notes, send the messages, share the words, let every one of our students know that we believe they can.
