Letter from Principal Nelson
Cougars-
When it comes to our students, our axiom is and always will be “better safe than sorry.” In all aspects of school, we err on the side of caution because protecting our students is our number one priority. Whenever we saw the weather report this week, we had to make a decision about whether or not to have the Fun Run due to expected thunderstorms and a 90% chance of rain in the morning. Running in the rain wasn’t the issue; it was concern for lightning and the expected wind chill. Also, we didn’t want students uncomfortable during and after the run because of lack of appropriate attire. Well...the rain decided not to make a stop over 4801 Monterey Oaks Blvd, in fact today ended up being quite glorious, but such is the risk whenever you place the safety, well-being, and comfort of students first. We would much rather prefer to have egg on our faces than to put our students in unsafe situations. This is our practice in regards to all situations in regards to student safety; we investigate all the variables thoroughly and make informed decisions that ensure our students are taken care of.
We will reboot the Zombie Fun Run on Friday, December 2nd during the day with the same times as before. We want to reward our kids for their fundraising efforts and deliver what we promised them. Our teachers prefer allowing 100% of our kids to participate than to holding it after school, so please swing by on Friday the 2nd during the day to cheer your students and staff on. As for pledges and swag-bag donations, we will still be accepting all until November 30th. www.thegetmovingcrew.com
Happy Thanksgiving! We wish you and yours a safe and restful break.
