Marking Period 2 Progress Report Period
We are half-way through October and half-way through marking period 2 for the 2020-2021 school year. We continue to remind students the importance of marking period grades in earning semester credits. Earning semester credits means advancing grade levels with our ultimate goal of graduation. Students continue to engage fully in classwork and attend school each day.
Student grade categories for the school year are consistent for each course. Daily grade average counts for 70% of their overall average. Tests & major assignments count 30% of their overall average. It is important students complete each assignment for each course.
Next week, we will send a reminder to check progress report grades in Skyward Family Access. We look forward to the continued success of our students.
Sincerely,
Shelby Balser
Proud Principal

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS--Updates on Teacher Contact, Attendance, and Grades
2. Does my virtual student receive feedback? Yes, much like a student sitting in class. Students receive feedback on assignments and through general channel chat capabilities in Microsoft TEAMS.
3. What does loss of credit or truancy warning letter mean? Your student is in danger of losing credit or has lost credit due to attendance. The attendance law requires students to be present (on-campus and/or virtually based on instructional method choice) 90% of the time. We are required to notify when students reach these marks. Virtual students must participate in every class period everyday to be considered present.
4. How do grades impact credits at the high school? Students must pass classes at each semester with a grade of 70 or higher. If a student has been unsuccessful this first marking period, students will need to perform well the next two grading periods to secure credit for the semester. Credits not earned at the high school level are repeated until earned.
5. Does Microsoft TEAMS record for teachers the amount of time a student spends in the learning management system? Yes, teachers utilize a feature in Microsoft TEAMS to monitor time spent viewing assignments and resources. This information is helpful when providing feedback on student performance.
