The eye worm
Scientific name: Loa Loa
Where does the eye worm live?
Rain forest and swamp forest areas of West Africa and they are common in Cameroon and on the Ogooè River.
What does it eat?
The eye worm eats the human or animals eye
How does it reproduce?
Like all roundworms, Loa loa is sexual so a male and female worm must be present in the same host for a full infection to ensue. Upon reproduction the female worm produces sheathed eggs called microfilariae which circulate in the blood stream.
