New SRO on campus
Mr. Klem is the new OSS assigned SRO for all 3 campuses:
Welcome to the OSS Family our new School Resource Officer, Stan Klem! He worked for 25 years at the Orlando Police Department where he retired with the rank of Lieutenant. He was the sergeant for all the SROs in Orlando for 3 years. In March he decided to come back after his daughter, Ms. Klem, became an OSS High School math teacher. His mission is to keep OSS safe, we look forward to having a seasoned officer on all of the OSS campuses. If you see him, be sure to make him feel welcome Orcas!
Kindergarten
First Grade
Ms. Molnar’s class read “The Dot” and learned about realistic fiction. We also finished up our time and measurement chapter! We had so much fun learning how to tell time!
Second Grade
Third Grade
Third grade completed their first ever standardized test! They had a Sock Hop party to celebrate their successes on Thursday. See class Dojos for photos. Congratulations to the YELLOW TEAM for being the WINNERS of the TACO PARTY!!
Last week students had an awesome time with our Fear Factor activities to help get students ready for our FSA reading test. Thank you to Ms. Knight for putting all of the gross creations together!
As Ms. Hurley’s class wraps up their unit on animals, they released the different animals they were observing in their classroom. The students truly enjoyed watching the Beatles, butterfly, and chicks develop.
Fourth Grade
4th grade has had a very productive week this week! We completed our Writing FSA on Tuesday! We are very proud of how hard our students worked on completing this exam. One test down, two more to go!
Mrs. Michaud’s class has been hard at work this week. In Reading, they began analyzing song lyrics in honor of National Poetry Month. This activity will continue for the remainder of the month. In Math, they learned how to divide decimals. In Science, they reviewed the Earth Science chapter and took their Ch. 3 assessment.
Press’s class has been practicing being awesome! Each day, students have been randomly drawing a classmate to catch doing something well and then leaving the student notes. We’ve found that everyone is awesome at something.
Fifth Grade
Sixth Grade
In Mrs. Bravo’s class we are working on a Piñata Project. Students were able to learn the history of the Piñata. Ask them where the Piñatas originated. Each class is making a Piñata from scratch.
