Upcoming Events
- May 2 - May 13: AP Exams. All students enrolled in an AP course are required to take the AP exam. Exams will be on CMVHS campus--there is no online testing option this year. See the full AP Exam schedule here.
- May 16: Last day to submit assignments for NCVPS courses. Please reach out to your NCVPS teacher for details.
- June 1, 2, 3, 7, 8: EOC Exams (Math 1, Math 3, English II, Biology, Food & Nutrition, Accounting 1, Career Management, Principles of Business & Finance)

Dear Charger Family,
Next Tuesday, May 10th, is a big day for our seniors!!! Between 9-11 am, we have cap and gown pick up at CMVHS (1900 Newcastle St.)
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. We are very fortunate to have a very dedicated, student-centered, team-first teaching family at CMVHS. Please don’t hesitate to reach out and share your gratitude for their commitment to our students and CMVHS. Teacher Appreciation Forms
We also want to let you know that we have a new student club- CMVHS Social Media Club which is being facilitated by Social Studies teacher, Ms. Phillips. They have already created a new Instagram account. Please follow it - @cmvhschargers. Thank you Ms. Phillips and student leaders for taking initiative on this.

Last day to submit work for NCVPS: Monday, May 16th
Last day to submit work for CMVHS: Friday, June 3rd
Exams: June 1 - June 8. Ms. Anderson has sent detailed emails about testing--check your CMS In Box!!
Chromebooks:
ALL Chromebooks and chargers must be returned by the end of the year
If you have an on-campus exam, return during exams
If you do not have an on-campus exam, return during exam week (June 1-June 8 between 9 and 1).
If you are attending summer school, you may keep your Chromebook
Summer School information will be sent out mid-May
PYTHON PROGRAMMING, & MICROSOFT WORD/POWERPOINT & EXCEL STUDENTS
Attention: Students that are enrolled in Introduction to Python Programming, Microsoft Excel Word and PowerPoint - You are required to complete an IN_PERSON End of Year Proof of Learning by completing the Credential Assessment. CMVHS will start these on May 2- 18th - On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00- 1:00 PM Only. An email has been sent to all student that need to test. Student can register for day and seat using this sign- up. Question, contact Ms. Jackson
New Updates from CFNC!
Student Enrichment Programs Directory - The CFNC Student Enrichment Programs directory has been updated with programs for summer 2022. The directory provides information on summer programs, workshops, and other activities at colleges around the state. Students can search by interest area, location, residential or day, by fee range, and more. Students are encouraged to explore these great enrichment opportunities!
Update to UNC System Testing Requirement
Here is information from the UNC System Office that outlines the Board of Governors’ decision to waive the standardized testing component for students applying for admission through fall 2024 due to the disruption in the learning environment from COVID-19.
Tutoring Resources
- Tutor.com: provided by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library. Student get 10 free online tutoring sessions each week with a live tutor.
- NCVPS Peer Tutoring Center & Virtual Buddies: For NCVPS classes only. Students can sign up for help with specific courses or connect with a virtual buddy for help with time management, motivation, etc.
- Khan Academy: Free for all students. Short lessons in the form of videos and supplementary practice exercises.
- School House World: From the founders of Khan Academy. Global community for free, small-group or 1:1 tutoring sessions on Zoom in SAT® Prep and math–from Pre-algebra to Calculus.

AP Exam Review Sessions
- Sessions with be virtually on Tuesdays and Thursdays (3 - 4:30 p.m.)
- The same material will be repeated on Saturdays in person from 9 a.m. to noon.
- The in-person sessions will be offered at three sites around the county--Hopewell for AP and Cambridge, and East Meck & North Meck for AP and IB.

Seniors--Have you received a Scholarship?
June Grads - Do you Need Mid-Year Transcripts for Colleges?
This is for June Graduates ONLY - Is a school which you are applying to requiring a mid-year transcript? If so, please complete the CMVHS Mid-Year Transcript Request Form. This google form is NOT for an initial transcript submission (1st transcript sent to a school for admission purposes). If you are unsure if a college and/or university requires this, please call the admissions office at the school. **Please note, mid-year transcripts will not be submitted until after rank is run on the 15th day of the new semester.**
New Scholarship Search in Naviance
Naviance launched a new and improved scholarships experience for all users. This new page includes many significant enhancements, including a consolidated scholarship management page, standardized matching criteria, and new searching capabilities for students. Check it out in Naviance under the Colleges tab. Make sure you clear any preset criteria that may be in there so that you see all of the scholarship opportunities.
Cap & Gown Ordering Info
Search Charlotte-Mecklenburg Virtual and you should be able to find us.
Although your Ceremony isn’t until February or June, graduation takes planning and preparation. To insure a timely delivery all Spring Cap and Gown orders need to be received by December 31st. Mid Year Graduate Order Deadline is November 1st!!
All Senior Items including the Cap and Gown will be delivered to your school. The Custom Graduation Announcements are pre printed and must be reserved by December 31st. Personalized Name Cards need to be ordered separately. Please email hjcharlotte@herffjones.com with any questions.
COUNSELOR'S CORNER
Driver's Ed
Interested in Driver’s Education? CMVHS will be hosting Saturday classes which operate from 8:00 am until 2:30 pm. We will host 3 session starting January 2022. You can register and pay using this link; Questions, email Ms. Jackson or contact Jordan Driving School at 704-966-5900.
Students who are interested in taking the Drivers Education course during the week should contact Jordan Driving School for more information: http://www.jordandrivingschoolcharlotte.com/.
Once the course has been completed, the drivers eligibility form for DMV can be received from Charlotte Mecklenburg Virtual Academy. Students must be in good academic standing to obtain their eligibilty certficate. Eligibility forms are available for pick up on Wednesdays from 9 AM to 2 PM.

It's not a trial! Students and teachers are eligible for Office 365 for Education, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and now Microsoft Teams, plus additional classroom tools. All you need to get started is to enter a valid school email address.
When entering your email address, do not include the word "student." For example, a student with the email address 1234567@student.cms.k12.nc.us would enter 1234567@cms.k12.nc.us
