Congratulations to eleven Driller parents who completed our "Parents on a Mission" session offered at BHS. Way to go parents!

The BHS AEROSPACE Engineering Classes took a recent field trip to visit CAU. According to PLTW teacher, Don Wilmot, "It was very informative and the CAU staff was amazing at answering all the questions. Not only did the students all get to see many of the very things we learn about in class, but several of them said things like 'I never knew about this career,' and 'I might have just changed my career plans.'" Pictured left: Everyone in their safety vests before they walked out on the Flight Line and got to see a real plane up close and personal.

This trip was to provide career options and hands-on learning that we often struggle to get to our students. Pictured right: A glimpse from the “Crows Nest” looking down on the flight line and across to the Mechanics Shop.

Several BHS art students participated in Bakersfield's annual Via Arte held at The Marketplace on October 13-15. Student artwork was on full display over the weekend-long chalk drawing event and many staff and students stopped by to check out their impressive work. Way to go Drillers!

Students from Ms. Trimm's and Ms. Kim's biology classes apply what they've learned in class to investigate clues and help solve a simulated crime during their "Murder and a Meal" biology lab.

Winter Formal is open to ALL students and will take place on Saturday, December 16th from 8:00-11:00pm at The Westchester Hall, 2801 F Street in downtown Bakersfield. Sale-priced tickets will be offered 3 days only--November 14, 15, & 16 in the Finance office--cash or credit/debit accepted. Buy early and save money!

FORMAL TICKET PRICES:

• November 14, 15, 16 ~ $45 with ASB sticker; $50 w/o ASB sticker
• No ticket sales on Friday, November 17th.
• November 27-December 15 ~ $55 with ASB sticker; $60 w/o ASB sticker

Guest Policy: Guests are allowed from other schools at Formal but they must be approved by the Dean in advance. Pick up a guest approval form in the SAB. Guests must be approved before you can purchase your guest's ticket.

Winter Sports are underway! If your student is interested in playing a winter or spring sport, please complete the online Sportsnet account and obtain a physical from your doctor to get your athlete cleared for practice.
