Megan Stern - Teacher of Promise Awardee
Congratulations to Megan Stern for winning the Teacher of Promise Award for the Farrington Kaiser Kalani Complex Area! Megan competed with all teachers in the complex area in their first three years of teaching.
Candidates for the award were evaluated based the following categories:
- student learning experience
- teaching/learning strategies
- professional and curriculum development
- substantive innovation
- supportive relationships
- growth and promise

School Quality Survey
In January you should have received information through our Thursday folder about the School Quality Survey (SQS). The SQS is an opportunity for parents to give input across a variety of areas, including the safety and well being of your child(ren) and your satisfaction and engagement with our school. If you haven't already done so, please take some time to complete the survey for this school year using the link below. All surveys should be completed by March 10.
WASC Accreditation Visit
All public schools in Hawaii are accredited through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The accreditation process starts with schools analyzing and submitting a report regarding their organization, curriculum, instruction, assessment and accountability, and school culture and student support. It culminates with a visit by representatives from WASC.
For more than a year, Liholiho has been engaged in this accreditation process. This week a visiting committee from WASC will be at the school to conduct their site visit. Three representatives will be on campus from Monday through Thursday visiting classrooms and speaking with adults and students.
