Totem Falls Raven Review

A NOTE FROM DR. CHURCH
Dear Totem Falls Families,
As COVID-19 cases in the county are increasing, I wanted you to know that I have been sharing with students my appreciation that they have been so responsible in wearing their masks. It really has become a habit and they are so great about taking mask breaks at recess in the designated spaces. I also reinforced the importance of maintaining distance. I shared that they can use their extended "raven wings" as a way to help bear that in mind. (This means extending their arms.) Our goal is to make sure we end the year with no classrooms needing to quarantine. We appreciate your reinforcing this at home.
I also want you to know that we are beginning the placement process of placing students for next year soon. I value your input in this and want to provide you an opportunity. Our goal is to create classes that are balanced based on student strengths and needs. Report card grades, teacher input, parent input and state test scores are used to assure that we are creating balanced classes.
In addition, we look to shuffle classes from one grade level to the next to assure that students continually have an opportunity to work with new students. Totem Falls teachers will review each class list thoroughly and will carefully consider how students work together and we will make adjustments to the class lists.
As we start the student placement process, we welcome parent input into this process. If there are specific needs or past history that should be considered and may contribute to the success of your student, we want to consider that information in the placement process. Our goal is to create the most balanced classes as possible while meeting student needs and will take all input into consideration. Please email myself and Tiffany with your thoughts. Teacher assignments are subject to change, so please describe the learning environment and teacher style you believe to be best for your child. Teacher requests will not be used in determining student placement. If you can have any input to us by May 6th, that would be great.
Thank you – We are looking forward to another great year!
Sincerely,
-Craig
