Georgia Milestones Guidelines for Parents & Students
All Students (Testing and Non-Testing) Should
- Be present and arrive at school on time each day during testing.
Testing Students Should
- Limit evening activities prior to testing so that adequate time is provided for rest
- Understand the importance of the Georgia Milestones Test
- Eat a nutritious breakfast before coming to school or in the cafeteria between 7-7:30 a.m.
- Practice the various subject tests using the website below
- Come to school ready to test.
Parents Should
- Ensure your child gets plenty of rest during testing
- Encourage students to spend some free time practicing the subject tests.
- Make every effort to not schedule any appointments on testing dates
- Refrain from visiting the school for lunch, birthday celebrations, etc. on testing dates

PTA Run4Fun
Make plans to participate in PTA's annual 1K and/or 5K, Saturday, May 6th. Invite your family, friends, and neighbors to join you for a fun run or walk through the neighborhood. As a friendly reminder, students must take the AR tests by themselves. Parents should not assist in any way or be in the room when and where students are taking AR tests.

DCSD 5th Annual Chess Fair
The DeKalb County School District (DCSD) Chess Club invites all parents and students to participate in the district’s fifth annual Chess Fair. The event will be from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, May 13, at Stone Mountain Middle School. Family Fun at Fernbank This Saturday
Spring Plant Sale
A wide variety of hard-to-find native plants available for sale from 8 am until 3 pm. We’ll help you load your car, and our horticulture staff and garden volunteers will be on hand to answer your gardening questions. Come early to get the best selection! Bird Festival
Our Bird Festival is in observance of International Migratory Birds Day, and takes place in our exhibit hall (plus outdoors, weather permitting) from 9 am until noon. Snake Day
At noon, the serpents (and a few of their lizard friends) take over the science center! See live snakes on display, courtesy of the Georgia Reptile Society.
