A Message from the Principal
May 8, 2016
The test of a good teacher is not how many questions he can ask his pupils that they will answer readily, but how many questions he inspires them to ask him which he finds it hard to answer.
-Alice Wellington Rollins
The week we have been waiting on is upon us. Thanks for your commitment. You all have worked hard all year long for this very week. May your hard labor and efforts yield much fruit. We are going to need everyone this week in order for us to have a successful testing environment. It would be unfortunate for us to work hard all year long, get to testing week and have a poor testing environment. May the scores be with you!
After testing hours will be equally as important. Be very creative this week. Ensure you are prepared for instructional fun after testing. Do not blame the students for poor behavior if we haven’t planned well for them after testing. Be prepared!
As we prepare to close out the school year, let’s be mindful that safety is of utmost importance. This is the time of year when students can become even more difficult to manage. Let’s be vigilant, vocal and visible to ensure the safety of all of our students and staff members.
Some plan reminders for the rest of the school year:
- Stand in the hall on the black line and use positive narratives
- Keep students in class (First and last 10 minutes; use official hall pass)
- Prior to submitting classroom disruption referrals (Implement steps for de-escalation, assign classroom consequences, use red card for immediate support)
- Two days per week teachers will use PLC to help sweep the halls after passing period (Monday- Electives/Social Studies, Tuesday- Math/Science, Wednesday, ELA/Social Studies &, Thursday- Science/Math, Friday- Electives/ELA).
- Dress code will be address as needed.
Thanks,
L. Russell
