The Dolphin Whistle
April 18, 2018, Issue 31
MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL LAMBERT
The annual state testing will be starting on May 1st! Grades 3, 4, and 5 will once again take the state SBAC test in ELA and Math and 5th grade will also take the Science test the last week of April. It is very important that students not have any appointments before lunch in the last week of April and the first two weeks of May.
Also important to remember:
- students at this age need 10 hours of sleep each night
- eating breakfast before the testing begins is critical to success
- starting each day with words of encouragement from family sets a positive tone and
helps with student confidence.
Our school theme for assessments all through the year is Show What You Know!
Please help your child to remember this important motto.
If you have any questions about the state testing, please do not hesitate to ask me.
Principal Mariano Castro Elementary

The MVLA Parent Education Speaker Series presents: “Getting College Ready"
Seven Essentials for Raising Children Who Succeed” with Laura Kastner, Ph.D. on
Tuesday, April 24, 7:00 pm at Mountain View High School Spartan Theatre.
Are you concerned about "designing" the perfect college résumé for your children? According to Dr. Laura Kastner, doing so risks limiting our parenting focus to an over-emphasis on academic achievement, resulting in more stress and less sensitivity to other developmental issues which, in turn, can lead to our children's underachievement and burnout.
