Morrill Act (1862)
- This act passed on July 2, 1862.
- This act made it possible for new western states to establish colleges for their citizens.
- This act committed the Federal Government to give each state 30,000 acres of public land.

Dawes Act (1887)
- Its also known as the General Allotment Act.
- President of the U.S to survey American Indian tribal land and divide it into allotment for individual Indians.
- Distribution of land to Native Americans in Oklahoma.

Pendleton Act (1883)
- This act got approved on January 16, 1883.
- This established a merit-based system of selection government officials and supervising their work.
- The act was signed into law by Senator George Hunt President of Ohio.
Ellis Island (1892)
- Ellis Island opened in 1892 as a federal immigrantion station.
- It served for more than 60 years.
- Millions of newly arrived immigrants passed through the station.
- Theodore Roosevelt was president.
