Boundary Change Meetings Scheduled for 1/24/24
Two informational meetings will be held on Wednesday, January 24 to present the proposed Neenah Joint School District boundary changes for the 2024-25 school year. A virtual meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. and an in-person meeting will take place at 6 p.m. in the high school auditorium at 500 Rocket Way. The zoom link for the virtual meeting will be provided by email closer to the meeting date and will be made available on the District website at the time of the meeting. The presentation for both meetings will be the same, so it is not necessary to attend both meetings.
The proposed changes are being developed through a process that included meetings in October and December where community members were asked for feedback and offered suggestions. The changes will be presented to the Board of Education for review at its February 6 meeting. The Board is expected to vote on the proposal at its February 20 meeting.
A page on our District website includes Frequently Asked Questions about the boundary revisions process.

Any Inclimate Weather School Closure Will Be A Digital Learning Day
NJSD Families,
With winter weather likely on its way, it is a good reminder that if the District closes school for any days during the 2023-24 school year, they will be considered Digital Learning Days. The District does not have additional minutes built into the calendar to provide for traditional "snow days."
Students will be provided activities or lessons by their teacher in Canvas (or Seesaw for grades 4K-2) by 8:15 a.m. at the elementary level and at 8 a.m. for our middle and high schools. Students should use their District-issued devices and login through Classlink to access these lessons. These times will change should students be released from school on the day of a closure. Clear communications will follow.
Teachers will provide specific hours when they are available to answer questions during the school day.
If you have questions, please check with your child's teacher or school administrator for more information about how Digital Learning Days will look for your child.

Absences:
Did you know you can enter your student(s) absence in the parent portal?
You will select MORE from the portal menu, then Absence Requests. Select your student that will be absent, the best fitting reason, a brief explanation, then submit. Families are still welcome to call the school office at 920-751-6960, option 2, before 8:30 AM when your child is absent if you prefer. Calls may be made during the night with information left on our voicemail system. Make-up work will be provided upon your child’s return to school. Absences for illness, medical appointments, and family emergencies will be excused. Because research shows that student absences can result in significant gaps in student learning, we ask families to limit time away from school. Students absent with a fever must be fever free without fever-reducing medication for 24 hours before returning to school.

Neenah Joint School District Strategic Plan
Growth is the centerpiece of the Neenah Joint School District’s Plan for Success for the 2023-24 school year. The plan was adopted after several workshops involving the Board of Education and District administration during the previous school year.
Growth will be publicly measured by the District report card issued by the state in November and in other ways at each of the schools. Four anchors to achieve growth were identified: Engagement, Collaboration, Responsibility and Well-Being. District staff and students will focus on these anchors throughout the school year.
All School Safety Practices
All school doors are locked during the school day. Parents, tardy students, and visitors are welcome at all times, but must always enter through the main door. Ring the buzzer and stop in the school office first to be checked in. If it is your first time coming into the building during school hours, you will need a government-issued picture ID (for example, a driver’s license) so we can enter you into our Raptor system. If it is necessary to pick up a student for an appointment before dismissal time, an adult must first come to the office and the child will be called from the classroom to the office. Please allow plenty of time so you can come into the office to sign out your child. Your child will remain in class and continue learning until you come to the office. To avoid interruption of classroom instruction, delivery of all items for students should be made to the office.
District Building and Facilities Usage Reminders
The District allows for the community to reserve building facilities/rooms for special circumstances throughout the school year. To request usage of a school/room, please click the link below to access the Neenah Joint School District's facility scheduling program. https://www.neenah.k12.wi.us/about/operationsandmaintenance.cfm
Requests to use Hoover's facilities may occur any time after 4:00 p.m. Usage will be granted as long as there is availability.
Cell Phones
Students are discouraged from bringing a cell phone to school. Cell phones must remain off and in backpacks during school hours. The school cannot accept responsibility for lost or stolen devices.
