Howe Elementary School October 2022

Happy October!

Fall is coming. The weather is starting to get chilly. Please pack a sweater or a fall coat with your child(ren). They will be going out for recess, weather permitting. Picture day is coming up at the beginning of October. If you want to get involved, come join PTO! We are always looking for volunteers and fresh ideas for the students and the school. Some fun events are planned for the upcoming months. I look forward to continuing working with all the students, families and staff this school year to have the best year yet. Please reach out by phone or email if you need anything.

Drop off/Pick up Reminders

  • If you arrive to school later than 9:05am, you will need to park and bring your child(ren) into the office to sign them into school.
  • When picking up your child(ren) you will need to present an ID at the office at the time of pick up.
  • Early pick ups need to be called into the office and arrive before 3:15pm in order to not interfere with the end of the day dismissal of all students.
  • If you arrive later than 3:55pm, you will have to enter the office with a photo ID in order to pick up your child(ren). You can present your Driveline number in place of your ID at this time as well. We will dispatch the students as soon as we see the number or ID.

Driveline Pick up Update

We have been piloting the new Driveline app for a month now. The best part about this system is that the parents/guardians do not have to do anything with it besides displaying their number in their windshield for our staff to punch in the numbers ahead of time for the students to make their ways from their classrooms to the pick up line.

We have assigned numbers to the families that are always pick ups. If you have not received a number and you are a frequent pick up, please contact the office to get your child(ren) matching numbers to help make the pick up process run smoothly. If you are picking up your child(ren) some of the time, please reach out to the office to still get a number assigned. It is important to have a number assigned to you as soon as possible in those instances. If you do not have your number in your car or on you when walking, you will be asked to park/leave line and enter the office with a photo id in order to get a temporary number for that day only! We are trying to keep every child safe at all times. If you need more than the 4 copies provided or need a replacement, that can be arranged by the parent/guardian calling the office. We will not provide more copies just by the student(s) telling us. We do not want too many numbers being given out without the parents'/guardians' knowledge. Thank you for your patience and flexibility while trying out this system. We are loving this new system and the efficiency. Please let us know your thoughts about it. We value your feedback.

PTO Fundraiser

World's Finest Chocolate sales have begun. Prepay $60 for a box of chocolates to sell on your own. The money goes back to PTO to fundraise for events and gifts back to the students. They even raise money to offset the cost of the field trips the students take or need busing for.
