Newsletter hidden word contest
We're holding the same contest again this week, so see if you can find the random backwards word that is not part of a full sentence, and email it to Mr. Castro at dcastro@bcps.org along with your name (the parent) and your child's name (the student). If you do not have email, you can call 443-809-1505 and leave a voicemail message with the same information anytime after 4pm.
Face Masks & Coverings Now Optional
In accordance with the latest updates to CDC guidelines and local health department ordinances, BCPS has now made the use of face masks/coverings optional for all public school buildings, facilities and offices beginning Tuesday, March 1, 2022. Please note that masks will STILL be required in the following circumstances:
- For individuals who return to school/work under a shortened quarantine option after a COVID-19 diagnosis or exposure (masks must be worn at school until 10 days have passed since the beginning of symptoms or last date of exposure).
- For individuals with COVID-19 symptoms who are being seen by the nurse in health suites.

February Coffee & Conversation Wrap-Up
Thanks to all who joined us for our February Coffee & Conversation session where Mr. Jeremiah spoke about the Community School Initiative here at Norwood, and Mr. Castro also described how their positions work together in improving access to resources for our students and families. In order to move forward with any initiatives, Mr. Jeremiah needs to hear from as many families as possible. Refer to the flyer below and contact him directly (667-251-4985 or ojeremiah2@bcps.org) to schedule a 1on1 listening session to provide the valuable feedback that we need to help us reach our requirements for this program.

Finding local vaccine services & clinics for the whole family
In the last newsletter, there was a local clinic mentioned being held nearby at Berkshire Elementary School for March 16th that is no longer accepting new registrations. The clinic is full and is no longer open to walk-ins or accepting any new appointment registrations. If you wish to use a service that can find you a local clinic or health provider and help schedule you or anyone in your family who is interested in receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, feel free to call the Maryland GoVax number between 8am & 8pm at 1-855-634-6829, select your preferred language from the menu (1 for English, 2 for Spanish), and follow the automated prompts. School required vaccinations and flu shots are just some of the additional services that Maryland GoVax can assist you with finding a local provider or clinic. For online booking, visit https://coronavirus.maryland.gov/pages/vaccine#locator

CCBC Family Literacy ESOL Program for Spring 2022
In October we had shared information for the Winter 2022 term, and now this is for the upcoming Spring 2022 term. The Family Literacy ESOL Program for non-native English-speaking parents is designed to help them learn English language skills for life, work, and to help with their child’s education. The parent must have a child 0–16 years old living in the home and enrolled in a Baltimore County Public School, the Judy Center of Baltimore County or Baltimore County Head Start program.
Parents in our area interested in enrolling for this FREE course need to register in-person at one of five locations around Baltimore County. The closest registration locations, as noted in the flyer below, are the North Point Library Community Room in Dundalk or a classroom within Hawthorne Elementary School in Middle River. Classes will be held twice a week with time slots available in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Please click below for more information via the program flyer.
