JANUARY 25, 2023 - NEWSLETTER
SLPHS families,
Last weekend, we hosted the DECA district competition. Our Business and Entrepreneurship pathway students competed with more than 180 students from 7 different schools. We had 16 students compete in various areas and all placed high enough in their events to compete at the state level in March. Congratulations to each of them!
Yesterday, we welcomed international teen resiliency speaker and coach, Kate Gladdin, to speak to our 9th graders and student leaders. Her presentation focused on how we can work through unexpected and unwanted challenges to find productive ways to move forward. She provided students with a tangible framework for turning “setbacks into comebacks.”
Kate will share the same message she shared with students tomorrow evening in a community event open to all. Join us in the Fine Arts Center, Thursday, January 26. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the talk will begin at 6:30 p.m. In addition, we will have a health and wellness fair with local providers prior to and after the presentation in the Rotunda.
Registration for next year opens next week. Students and families can begin exploring courses now. All of the registration materials are available online now. Students will have about a month to make their choices, and we will provide information sessions for families as we move through the registration process.
Finally, this is paraprofessionals week, and I want to thank each and every paraprofessional who works at our high school for the dedication, passion and professionalism they model daily supporting our students. This student-centered group of colleagues contributes to making this a great place to learn and work – every week, throughout the school year!
One school, one community, #SLPPantherProud!

Principal
