Financial Aid Night - October 3
We will be hosting a Financial Aid Night on Monday, October 3, at 6:00pm in the Chi-Hi Cafeteria.
It is highly recommended for parents of senior students that are attending college and technical college next fall. A representative from UW-Eau Claire's Financial Aid Office will discuss types of financial aid, applying for aid and answer any questions you might have. We will also provide information on scholarship postings which are posted throughout the school year on our website. It’s not too early to begin gathering information and to apply.
Counselors to Present in Freshmen TA
Counselors will be presenting to freshman students in their Teacher Advisory classes in early October regarding high school success. Important information will be covered such as graduation requirements, reading and understanding transcripts, how to calculate GPA and it's importance, and how to foster good study habits early on. Academic planning and course selection information will also be covered.
Counselors Continue to Hold Senior Meetings
School counselors are holding individual senior meetings throughout the first and second quarter. At this meeting, counselors review graduation requirements and make sure seniors have everything they need in their senior schedule. Other possible topics include:
Applying to College
Requesting Transcripts
Asking for Letters of Recommendation
Help with essay topic (if needed)
Paying for College (Scholarships and Financial Aid)
Military Information
Other Post-Secondary Options
Be sure to ask your senior about this information and remind them to set up an appointment with their counselor, if they haven’t already done so.
The Student Services Website has a lot of helpful information for parents and students. Check out the College Planning section for information on applying and paying for college.

Seniors Begin Applying to Colleges
The time is now! To begin, students are encouraged to go to the website of the college of interest and become familiar with their entrance requirements as these can vary greatly. Colleges and universities that have an open admission policy will accept most high school graduates who apply. At the other end of the spectrum are those that are highly selective. If you are applying to a technical college, you will need to search for the requirements for that particular program as these requirements can also vary greatly. Application deadlines vary. Keep in mind that some selective schools have early action or early decision as early as mid-October. Some popular programs at technical colleges can fill quickly and may have waiting lists so it is in your best interest to apply early. For programs with a waiting list, the student must be “program ready” before they are eligible to be placed on the waiting list. Most applications can be found on the colleges’ website under “Admissions” or “Apply Now.” Allow yourself enough time so that supplemental materials (if required) can be submitted by the deadline as well, i.e. transcripts, test scores, letters of recommendation, as these items can only be sent during business hours.
