The Tiger Times
Week of September 18 through September 22
Hello Tiger Family!
Happy Sunday!
In the whirlwind of a school week, it's easy to get caught up in the "administrivia" of our work. You can't just forget about it - that part of our work is important in its own way and supports our students- but it's not why we bounce out of bed in the morning. For me, it's knowing that I will have an opportunity each and every minute in the day to have an impact on a child or a teacher or a parent. That impact may not always be huge but it will be something. The fact that we have the power to change the trajectory of someone's life -even in a small way- is something to bounce out of bed for. Whether it's high-fiving a kiddo walking in the door, giving a hug to someone having a hard day, choosing kindness in a challenging situation...these are all things I see you doing for our kids and for each other every single day. You are the reason Timberline is the school it is and every one of us gets an "Eye of the Tiger" for that. You're doing it!!
Regarding our campus instructional focus, I have something I'd like each team to do this sometime this week. Take a moment to look at your current learning targets and then flip back to week 1. The improvements made in just a short month are incredible and are going to have a BIG impact on student achievement. I know when you're learning something new and you're far from feeling like an expert, it can feel like there's not much progress. But I can tell you, that progress is there. So keep growing that growth mindset and keep having the conversations that are driving our learning. You're doing this, too!!
Have a _____________________ week this week!
I thought I'd let you pick the word this time :)
Blessed and blissed to be your principal,
Shelley

The Leader in Me
Volunteers - All volunteers will check in at the office and then head to the Parent Center. Marie-France needs to be able to document who our volunteers are throughout the year. If these are visitors who work directly with a student - PALS, tutors, etc.- they will go on to classrooms from there. If they are working on materials -cutting out lamination, making copies, etc.- they will either work in the Parent Center or in the TES workroom. These volunteers do not work in classrooms due to FERPA and student confidentiality considerations.
If you have a student who make a physical threat to another student, this needs to be communicated to either Mariana or Lisa immediately upon you becoming aware of the threat. They will help in determining the next step for the specific situation.
In the upcoming parent video newsletter, we'll talk to our parents about our student leadership jobs and encourage them to ask their kiddos about how they help lead our school. I wanted to be sure you knew parents will be asking about this!
Be sure to keep reading your email daily to make sure you're in the know about what you need to know!
