The Skokie Home Scoop
June 6, 2022
Dear Skokie Community,
The last week of school is upon us. The students have continued to be engaged in learning, and we have enjoyed getting to see numerous projects coming to fruition around the building.
At some point in the past several weeks, the students utilized advisory time to reflect upon their school year and write a letter to their “next year self.” Students were asked to reflect upon what they learned this year about themselves personally and/or as a student and to set a goal for next year. The following prompts were shared with students:
How have I grown as a friend?
What have I learned about my emotions and managing them?
One way I grew in (math/science/LA/SS/exploratories) is…
One goal I have for myself in ____ grade is:
Letters were delivered to members of our school SEL Committee, and we will be sure next year’s 6th and 7th grade teachers receive the letters so that the students can open them at the beginning of next school year.
Our staff is working hard to ensure this last week is full of memorable moments for your children. We hope your families enjoy a wonderful summer.
Take care,
Betty Weir and Larry Joynt
Skokie Principal and Assistant Principal
School Supplies for 2022-23 School Year
We have heard that some families have already received their box of supplies for next year. Our school supply provider shared that with the supply chain challenges in recent months, they wanted to be sure to get supplies to our families in case there becomes a shortage or delivery delay later on this summer. We realize this is earlier than anticipated to receive supplies for August and we apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for understanding.
