Jesse Boyd Elementary 4/11/16
Welcome Back
It is our hope that all of our students had a restful spring break. The next two months are filled with learning, special activities, and anticipatory excitement. We look forward to the adventures we will have as we "Finish The Race."
Palmetto Gold School
Jesse Boyd Elementary has been recognized by the South Carolina State Department of Education as a Palmetto Gold School. This recognition comes from efforts in student achievement. The students and teachers of Jesse Boyd work endlessly, always striving to give 110% and it was a great honor for both our staff and students to be recognized in this manner. The Palmetto Gold and Silver Awards Program was established by the Education Accountability Act (EAA) of 1998 and amended to include awards for closing the achievement gaps in 2008. As an important part of the education accountability system in South Carolina, the Awards program is designed to recognize and reward schools for attaining high levels of absolute performance, for attaining high rates of growth, and for making substantial progress in closing the achievement gap between disaggregated groups. To identify schools to receive Palmetto Gold or Silver Award for General Performance, school report card absolute and growth ratings and indices are utilized. “These awards are well-deserved and indicate the great strides administrators, principals, teachers and students are making across the state,” said State Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman in a statement recently.
