Volume 1, Issue 4 - September 8, 2017

Dear families,

We had a great week at Gentry! We invite you to follow our Twitter account (@Gentry_Middle) to stay up to date on our academic and athletic successes! Also, you can always visit our website (LINK) for information you might need.

Thank you!

We want to thank you for your cooperation at drop off/pickup time! By asking your kids to get off the car as soon as you are by the curve, and walking them across the parking lot, we keep our students safe while really speeding up the process!

Spirit Week

Next week is Spirit Week!! Please, encourage your students to participate every day! Hats will be allowed, but otherwise the school code will still apply.

Monday: Dress like a Tourist Day: Pull out the fanny packs and sunglasses for a day of cheesy sightseeing!

Tuesday: Teacher-Look-Alike Day: Dress like your Favorite Teacher!

Wednesday: Cowboy Day: Yee-haw! Support your Jags by breakin’ out your cowboy hats, boots, and bandanas!

Thursday: GENTRY JAGUAR SPIRIT DAY- Blue, Red, and White! Pep Rally Day!

Friday: Rock Bridge vs. Hickman Day

Show your spirit for RBHS and wear Green and Gold! Or for Hickman High and wear Purple!

Game Friday night at Hickman High School!

Dropping Items at the Office

We really appreciate that you are apologetic when you drop items off for your students at the office, but in the last week we have seen a significant increase of parents bringing things that their kids forgot at home. Please, work with your students on being organized and preparing their school items the night before.

Cell Phone Use at School

As we provide our students with more freedom, allowing them to use their cell phone during lunch, we ask you to partner with us reminding your kids to not use their cell phones during the school day. Cell phones should be silent and out of sight until the students enter the cafeteria for lunch and once they leave it. Thanks for your cooperation!

Football Games

Please remember that the Rock Bridge stadium construction work is still far from being complete. While enough progress has been made to allow Rock Bridge to host football games, there is still much work to be done and many areas of the facility are still large, active construction zones. Consequently, for the safety, security, and viewing pleasure of all patrons we request that all Gentry students remain in the bleachers during the game and not congregating on the concourse, near concession stand, etc… unless they are accompanied by an adult. Thanks for your cooperation!

Jaguars for Houston

It is not too late to donate school supplies for Hurricane Harvey's victims. Please, bring donated items to the office. We are doing this drive along with the other middle schools in Columbia, so let's show our Gentry spirit!

Clubs, Organizations, and Athletic Teams
