My Goals and Plans: Spanish
By Cam Ruff
What enrollment means to me...
I feel as though I need to have a diverse knowledge and acceptance of many cultural background's to be a successful student and person in the future. I plan to take college level training in Video game design at an art school and knowledge on the lives and societal norms of a ethnic group other than mine would likely help me get a job to help pay for that college level training. I personally want to go to S.C.A.D. I feel as though I will need Spanish over french due to the amount of Spanish speaking people in America, were i plan to continue living. The American Workforce is made up of many different kinds of people, many of which that occupy high paying positions have a bilingual or even tri-lingual mastery, and I like financial security. I am taking a PC repair class alongside this Spanish class, I want to leave high school with a PC certification so that i may require a decent paying job in the technical field right off the back. This class is one of the many credits im planning to utilize for both life and graduation.
My goals for Spanish...
I hope to be able to make a high A in this class, for the upkeep of my GPA. I want to keep this to make myself and parents proud and to get as much money from scholarships as i can. I want to be able to uphold a basic conversation with people after this semesters class, or at least enough to uphold a basic transaction. I want this because i feel as though ill be able to procure a job over the summer at a restaurant or store, many people that use the Hospitality wing of services may only know Spanish, where this would help me. (i also would love to try and help those that cant speak English that well at one point in the future). I love learning about culture. I want to know all about Spanish culture spanning the beautiful looking foods, the vibrant colors of the decorations, and the amazing guitar music!. I specifically want to learn the origins of the "Spanish guitar" I am currently learning how to play guitar, and a little none fact is that many old school rock rifts are sped up Spanish guitar, so i want to know my favorite musics root! As a student and being who i am i just really want to do my best, and i feel like cultural knowledge will help me shy away from the growing ignorance and mean stereotyping that many people of today dish out.
How I plan to succeed...
I feel the basic and most important thing i can do to help myself out with this is to give my best and give good effort. That's all i can think to do. Now my best effort entitles many things, things like: reading up on some books, to try and get a written idea of Spanish culture out of class. I have a little workout regiment, and i can read my notes during the rest period for a little extra, plus i ride the atec bus so that gives me time too. As long as i pay attention and give the necessary effort i feel like I will do very well!
