Middle East Country- JORDAN
Here is a picture of Jordan's map. Jordan is bordered on the west by Israel and the Dead Sea, on the north by Syria, on the east by Iraq, and in the south by Saudi Arabia. It is comparable in size to Indiana, Arid hills and mountains make up most of the country. The Southern section of the Jordan River flows through the country, Jordan is in the Middle East. Almost half of Jordan is covered by the Arabian Desert. Jordan is bordered by 4 countries. Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, and Israel. Jordan is a country covering an area of 35,637 square miles.
Here is an image of Jordan's flag. The red triangle represents The Great Arab Results against the Ottoman Empire During World War 1. The black represents the Abbassid Caliphate. The white on the flag represents Ummayyad Caliphate. The green represents Fatimid Caliphate and Islam as it to be believed to be a favorite color of the prophet Muhammad and his daughter, Fatima. Green is also mentioned several times in the Quranm relation to paradise. The seven pointed star originally represents the seven districts erstwhile Syria. But changed national identities changed the interpretations. The seven pointed star currently symbolizes the seven verses of the surah in the Qu'ran- faith in one god, humanity, national spirit, humility, social justice, virtue, and aspirations.
Jordan's absolute location is 31.9500 N, 35.9333 E. Jordan, to the east by Iraq, and is bordered on the north by Syria to the east of Iraq, standing by Saudi Arabia on the east and south. To the west is Israel and the occupied West Bank while Jordan's only outlet to the sea, the Gulf of Aqaba, is to the South. Western Jordan has a Mediterranean climate with a hot, dry summer, a cool wet winter, and two short traditional seasons. However, about 75% of the country can be described as having a desert climate with less than 200mm.of rain annually.Jordan can be divided into three main geographic and climate areas: the Jordan Valley, The Mountain Heights Plateau, and the eastern desert.
Jordan's national symbol is the eagle. On the eagle's picture there are the same colors as they were on the flag.
Jordans national anthem is called "As-salam-al-malaki al-urdoni" In English means long live the king of Jordan. The anthem was made in 1946, the shortened version is most commonly used while the full version is only used for special occasions.
The national dish of Jordan is Mansaf, a large tray of rice with chunks of stewed lamb jameed, a yogurt sauce.
