Curriculum & Instruction
From Steve Straughan: The state has given all schools and students free access through August 31st to this digital resource myOn. When accessed, you will find directions for how to login to the site.
This trial version has over 10,000 digital books available to students! The books are from all genres and searches can be made in a variety of ways: reading level (F&P), grade level, Lexile, story type (short, medium, long, epic), language, fiction, non-fiction. When clicking the “Browse” button, students can locate books on social studies, math, science, hobbies, animals, and more. The books can be read on all types of devices as well.
There is a tutorial included at the link to help explore the site. This will help engage the kiddos in reading during the summer.

From Brian Lack: Just wanted to make sure everyone knew of the math PD opportunities offered by K-5 Exemplars (we are not purchasing Exemplars tasks or anything like that – they just asked to host their regional summer institute workshops in Forsyth, and we, of course, said “yes!”). Deb Armitage is the presenter – I’ve seen her and she is very good. I think these will make great sessions to help you with any math coaching/PD you might want to lead at your schools next year. The cost to attend each session is $225 - $275.
Exemplars will be holding a summer Institute in Cumming, GA. The following one-day sessions will be offered:
Monday, June 6th
• Numbers Are Primary, K–2: Teaching Number Sense & Place Value to Young Children
Tuesday, June 7th
• Number & Operations, 3–5: Place Value, Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication & Division
Wednesday, June 8th
Counselor's Corner
Guidance/Connections: IMPORTANT CHANGES, PLEASE READ!!!
Fourth and Fifth grades will be with me in Connections/Guidance May 23rd through May 26th.
This will allow me to do the end of year transition lessons with most of the classes at the actual end of the school year!
Career Lessons & Portfolios:
If you have all of your career lessons completed, please download the blank form (found on Share > Counseling > Career Lessons Rosters) and complete for your class. I need all of these completed forms printed and returned to me in paper copy, no later than Friday May 20th, 2016! Please come talk to me as soon as possible, if you think you will not be able to have all of the lessons done and the form completed and turned in to me by May 20th. Please print your form and turn in to me as a paper copy. Fifth grade, please let me know if there are any issues with the Career Portfolios as soon as you become aware.
Please let me know if you need anything!
Have a great week,
Onalee

End of Year Information
The End of Year Technology checklist will be in your box in the next couple of days. In the meantime, you may want to go ahead and start the following:
- Clean up your H drive - delete any old and unnecessary files
- Do not delete your outlook.pst file. These are your personal folders in Outlook.
- Backup your H drive - There are no plans to delete H drives but it has been known to happen. Back up your H drive on flash drive, external hard drive or even your Google Drive
- Make absolutely sure you are saving to your H drive and not "My Documents".
- Save anything from SShare and Share Drives you'd like to keep. I will be deleting files from these drives after post planning.
- Any emails you'd like to make sure are saved need to be moved into your personal folders.
