Representing
Smart Cookies
Superintendent Dr. Lane Mills and Board of Education Member Debora Powell had a great time celebrating Smart Cookies at Frederick Douglass ES on Nov. 15! They recognized the students in Ms. Castellano's third-grade Spanish Immersion class and also the school's Teacher of the Year Roger May. He is the PE Teacher at Frederick Douglass and has the pleasure of teaching every student. Everyone enjoyed milk and cookies courtesy of Chick-fil-A, and Dr. Mills presented each student and Mr. May with a certificate.
Channel 22 Crew
Shout Out! to WCSTV students for their second year of filming and broadcasting the Wilson Christmas Parade! This year they also filmed the Shriners Ceremonial Parade. If you missed it live, you can catch the parade on Channel 22 on both Greenlight and Spectrum. From left: Production Coordinator Grant Roberson and Hunt HS students - Rami, Shane, Adrianna, Rachel and Logan.

More Shout Outs!
- Shout Out! to the 2018 Wilson County Schools All County Honors Band, all of the Middle School Band Directors and to Clinician Kim Barclift for an amazing concert on Nov. 17! It was a busy weekend for the 70+ middle school students who were selected to be a part of this elite band. They worked hard and stayed focused during their five hour rehearsal on Friday and six hour rehearsal on Saturday prior to the concert. They represented their schools well and received high praise from Ms. Barclift, who is the Eastern District President of the NC Bandmaster Association. Special thanks to Elm City MS for hosting the event and Elm City MS Band Director Adam Schultz for organizing it.
- Shout Out! to Hearne ES Fourth-grade Teacher Amy Galeazzi for receiving a travel grant from the NC Museum of History! They plan on taking their field trip on March 15.
- Shout Out! to Wilson County Emergency Management for supplying WCS with a new shipment of red emergency bags! The bags are a vital part of our safety initiatives.
