Pablo Piccasso
An Artist To Remember
Childhood
Pablo Picasso was born on October 25, 1881, in Málaga, Spain. Pablo's parents named him after many saints; Pablo Diego Jose Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno Maria de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santisima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso. His father was an art teacher, so he wanted him to become an artist, & he did. As a child, he would make images, like spirals of art in sand with a stick. He would also draw pictures of modern stuff in his house, and cut out animals he drew. Believe it or not, Pablo's first words were 'Piz! Piz!' as in 'Lapiz', which means pencil in spanish. Pablo also had two younger sisters. Sadly, one of his sisters died of a disease. It hit the whole family with sadness, even Pablo.
In Teenage Years
When he was age 13 at young adult, Pablo painted very well. His father saw that he painted better than him, so he gave Pablo all his art supplies & never painted again. His family moved to Barcelona and went to a school. He thought the basic was to easy, so he moved to the more advanced skills. At 16, his family moved him to Madrid so he can study art at the Royal Academy of San Fernando. Pablo skipped alot of classes. He was very rebelious and didn't like the way they teached him.
Older, But Still Young
As a young artist, he hung out with others like him. They would spend time at a cafe called "The Four Cats". Pablo had a friend named Carles he lived with. They both had no money, so it was a scedule they had. Since they only had one bed, Pablo had to sleep in it while it was day, and Carles slept in it at night. After some time, Pablo moved back to his family. Pablo's parents didn't like the way Pablo looked; long hair, and big coats. Pablo's parents thought he was wasting his life!
Sad News
A while later, Carles was heart-broken; his girlfriend had left him. He had mixed emotions; sad, mad, confused. . . Later, he tried to shoot his ex-girlfriend, but accidently shot himself. Pablo was so sad, he decided to use blue; as his emotion he felt. He painted wierd shapes, and sizes(even one of Carles), people called this his "Blue Period'.
Blue Period
Pablo painted just shades of blue for a long time. People didn't like the way he painted, so not much got sold. Pablo didn't really care though. On the left, is one of his paintings he painted during his blue period called "Old Guitarist".
Pablo
This isn't really a painting he made, it's just he felt down.
