Warwick Weekly

November 14, 2019

Big picture
Our weeklies will be emailed and posted on our web page most Thursdays in the evening. The newest points of interest will appear at the top along with a review of the previous week and things to look forward to for the next week. We include links to our Warwick Parent/Guardian Handbook and a page where we curate previously publicized flyers for easy referral. If you have ideas on how to improve our Warwick Weekly as a means of communication, "we want to hear from you." Please use the online feedback form that can be found at the end of each Weekly to share your ideas, thoughts, and concerns with us.

Here is What Happened this Week!

  • Our Gym was a-glow with energy and pride for the PTO sponsored K.I.S.S. (Kids Invite Someone Special) Glow Party last Friday night. The decorations and give-aways were such fun. Everyone loved the photo booth. Thank you, PTO!
  • We honored and thanked 60 Veterans during our Assembly on Veterans Day. Our students sang, read their own poetry, shared artwork, and listened to Veterans tell their stories. We had a special guest, Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, who honored our school and our Veterans Day activities with an American Flag that was flown over the Capitol. It was an overall huge success that was made possible by our Veterans Day Committee, our custodians, all teachers, students, staff, PTO and parent volunteers, and especially, Mrs. Kristen Sleicher who spent countless hours coordinating and helping make the day a beautiful tribute to our Country's Heroes. Please see the beautiful tribute video (below) created and shared by Mr. Dennis McGovern who, along with his daughter Hailey, did so much to make our Veteran's Day special.
  • Our PTO sponsored Book Fair has been going on all week and continues into tomorrow. Students have enjoyed being able to pick and pay for their own books during school and during our evening Fair last night where we welcomed 80 Warwick Bears to the Fair! Congratulations to Ervad M. and Matty F. for winning the book baskets! Thank you PTO and Mrs. Chris Kehan for this wonderful opportunity for our students.
  • Our Celebrate Education visitations are in full swing! Please check the schedule emailed to all Warwick parents and guardians to reference when scheduled visitations are taking place.

What's Happening Next?

Please note that all students will be receiving a class picture after picture retake day (see Class Photo note below).
  • The 6th grade class photo for the yearbook will also be taken next Wednesday, November 20. Order forms to purchase this picture for your 6th grader will come home as soon as we receive them.

NEWS ITEMS

Class Photo

Our class photos this year will be a collection of individual photos on a page (see Ms. Bear's Homeroom example) as opposed to each homeroom having a group picture. This gives every child a chance to be in their class photo. Class photos will come home with students after the retakes are complete. Thank you for your patience and please call the Office if you ever you have questions or concerns. 267-893-4052.

PTO Reminders...

In honor of this being School Psychologist Awareness Week, first, we thank our new School Psychologist, Ms. Anna Walton for all she does to support learning at Warwick Elementary. Second, we share the following posters that encourage each of us to "Find our Focus." As the NASP explains: "Finding your focus can have a variety of meanings from paying attention, to being able to see an idea more clearly, to identifying an area of interest, or to being persistent or determined in one’s effort. Focusing can help us set goals, identify action steps, communicate need, and engage in discussions to help create the connections necessary for students to develop critical academic and social-emotional skills." We hope parents, guardians, students, and staff will benefit from time reflecting on the themes in the Find our Focus posters.

Celebrate Education!

We are celebrating education through November 22! Please look for an email to parents/guardians explaining the dates and times when each grade is having visitation. The purpose of visitation is to give parents a chance to see learning in action. This year, many classes will highlight Math in Focus--our newly adopted mathematics program. Only parents/guardians of currently enrolled Warwick students are welcome to attend visitations. All parents/guardians need to have their PA Photo/License with them to be admitted to the building. See the procedures for School Visits and Security below.

School Visits & Security

As noted in our Warwick Welcome Parent Handbook, to protect our students and staff while school is in session, all exterior doors are locked during the school day. Parents, guardians, and all visitors during the school day must enter the school using the Main Entrance. Please have a valid state-issued photo identification card with you (e.g., PA License). You will use the buzzer at the exterior of our Main Entrance to state your reason for the visit and show your ID. Once inside the vestibule, you will again need to be buzzed in. Once in the Main Office, the School Gate Guardian system will be used to clear you using your License. Once cleared, you will receive a visitor's sticker stating your name, time, and destination. Visitors must wear this sticker at all times and return it to the Main Office when you sign out to leave Warwick. This procedure is necessary for all visitors, even those that frequently visit and volunteer. Volunteers still need to be cleared through School Gate Guardian each time they come to school. We appreciate your support and patience.

Thank you to everyone who checked out our last Weekly. Here is a look at how many that was from our Analytics...
