Norfolk Public Schools Foundation Scholarships
The Norfolk Public Schools Foundation is offering over $60,000 in local scholarships to Norfolk High graduating seniors! By completing one application form you can apply for many scholarships. The due date for all applications is March 20th at 4:00 pm. You will find all instructions, more information, and the application form when you go to the NPS Foundation Page on the NPS District website.
To apply:
- Complete the application form on the NPS website. Make sure you fill in all required fields and mark the scholarships you would like to be considered for.
- Transcripts are required. Contact the counseling center for an official transcript.
- Some Scholarships require essays and/or letters of recommendation. Refer to the individual scholarship description for all requirements.
- If you are applying for scholarships where financial need is part of the criteria, then you must complete the FAFSA and include the “Student Aid Report Summary” with your application. You should receive this within 4 days after submitting the FAFSA online or 3 weeks if you apply by mail.
- The entire application is online and will need to be submitted digitally.

Acacia Fraternity
The Acacia Leadership Scholarship is a single-year scholarship awarded to 3 incoming male freshman at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln who display excellence in academics, motivation for personal success with an interest in developing and applying leadership skills. The application must be completed by January 31st at:
Helena Acre Home Grown Scholarship
The Helena Acre HomeGrown Scholarship Program is designed to encourage and support local families who share our goal of improving the agriculture industry.
Through this program, Helena will invest over $60,000 into the next generation of ag professionals by awarding approximately 60 high school seniors across the Midwest pursuing a degree in agriculture or science with a $1,000 Helena Acre HomeGrown Scholarship.
SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA:
- Graduating (2019) high school senior pursuing a two- or four-year degree in an agriculture and/or science major.
- Eligible applicants must reside in a qualified county in one of the following states CO, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MI, MN, MO, NE, OH, SD, TN, WI, WY
- Applications due January 31, 2019.
- Winners will be notified by March 1, 2019.
Winners will be asked to provide information on university enrollment.
Susan T. Buffet Scholarship
This is a scholarship that many students can apply for. It is a great scholarship that can cover tuition, room and board, and books. Students who receive this scholarship usually have their college paid for. We have had many students in the past get this scholarship! Elgibility is a outlined below. Please check to make sure you qualify. The application requires you to complete an online application, two letters of recommendation, transcript, essay, and SAR report from completing the FAFSA. This scholarship is not available until November 1st! All application materials are due February 1st.
To be eligible for a scholarship from The Susan T. Buffett Foundation, a student must:
- Be a resident of Nebraska
- Residency is determined by the institution where you enroll
- Graduate from a Nebraska high school or earn a Nebraska GED
- Achieve at least a 2.5 cumulative unweighted GPA in high school
- 2.5 on a 4 point scale
- 83 on a 100 point scale
- Be a first-time freshman when entering college
- Students obtaining dual enrollment credits in high school are still eligible to apply
- Plan to attend any of the following Nebraska public institutions:
- Nebraska Community Colleges - Central, Metropolitan, Mid-Plains, Northeast, Southeast, or Western Nebraska;
- Nebraska State College System - Chadron State, Peru State, Wayne State; or
- University of Nebraska - NCTA, UNK, UNL, UNMC, or UNO
- Be in need of financial assistance in order to attend school
- Note: Students do not need to be Pell Grant eligible to qualify
- Students must have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) below $10,000 in order to apply
- To calculate your EFC, use the College Funding Estimator
- You can also refer to your Student Aid Report if you have already completed the FAFSA
All eligible applications are reviewed and scored. Selection is based on the following criteria:
- Financial need
- Academic merit
- Personal essay
- Strength of recommendations
Every applicant who completes an application receives a decision notification via email by May 1st
Elks Legacy Grant
- Legacy Grant - High school seniors who are the children or grandchildren of dues-paying Elk members. Application online. Due by February 1st.
ESA Foundation
The ESA Foundation Board of Directors offers more than 200 scholarships a year. ESA International is an organization dedicated to promoting leadership and service bringing volunteers together in program and projects that make a difference to the community. It is pledged to the development of philanthropic activities of volunteers to assist those in need and to educate those who see to learn thus improving the lives of others. There is an online application process and many scholarships available. The deadline to apply is February 1st!
COE Scholars Academy
Have a passion for teaching and a strong academic record?
The College of Education is looking for the Fall 2019 cohort of teacher candidate scholars, and we encourage you to apply. Applications are open now and will close on February 1st. Teacher Scholars Academy is a select group of high-achieving teacher candidates who embody leadership qualities and commitment to their communities.
Eligibility:
- Teacher Scholars must be first time freshmen and enrolled in a College of Education teacher preparation program.
- An ACT score above 22 will qualify but preference will be given to those with an ACT score above 26. You must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 to qualify but preference will be given to those with a GPA above 3.0.
- Your résumé must show a commitment to your community and school through volunteer service and extracurricular activities.
Deadline is February 1st.
NSPE-NE
This is a scholarship for high school seniors who are planning to go to college for engineering.
The key requirements are:
- Applicants must plan to attend an engineering program that is accredited by the Engineering
Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology
(ABET-EAC)
- US Citizen at time of application
- Minimum GPA/SAT/ACT scores listed in application
- List references, activities, financial information and jobs
- Provide an essay
To apply, complete the application and mail it to the address below with a certified copy of your transcript by February 3rd.
The Nebraska Press Association Foundation Scholarship
The NPA Foundation will offer up to five $2,000 scholarships to students who will be pursuing newspaper journalism education at a Nebraska university of college. Click here for more information and an application due by February 4th.
Hispanic Scholarship Fund
HSF SCHOLARSHIP (for high school seniors and current college students)
The HSF Scholarship Application Opens January 1, 2019!
The HSF Scholarship is designed to aid students of Hispanic heritage in their pursuit of a college degree. Scholarships are available to high school seniors, undergraduate students (all years), graduate students, and community college students transferring to four-year universities. Awards are merit-based, and final amounts range from $500 to $5,000, based on demonstrated financial need.
Phase 1 of the application, which is a short questionnaire, opens on January 1, 2019 and closes on February 5. After review of all Phase 1 submissions, the top qualified applicants will be invited to complete the application Phase 2.

HyVee Founders Scholarships
The Hy-Vee Foundation is proud to award up to 80 -$1,000 in scholarships to students seeking a 4 year degree at any baccalaureate degree granting college in the United States. Applicants must be high school seniors employed at Hy-Vee.
Applications must be sent U.S. Mail and postmarked on or before February 8, 2019.
The Set Me Free Project
The Set Me Free Project is in honor of Sydney Loofe and her family. Sydney Loofe was raised in Neligh, NE and moved to Lincoln, NE after high school. Last year she was reported missing and was later found dead . The tragedy has sparked Sydney's parents, George and Susie Loofe, to advocate for prevention of trafficking before it starts. Please refer to the Set Me Free Project Website for more information on their prevention efforts. They are offering a $3000 scholarship to students of Nebraska high schools with a 3.0 or higher and who plan to attend an institution of higher learning in the the areas of sociology/criminal justice, social work or cyber safety. The Application (please read all requirements) is due on February 15th at 5:00 p.m.
Associated Staffing Skilled Trades Scholarship
- Must be a graduating high school senior
- Must be enrolled as a full time student to receive a degree in a skilled technical science field at a college in Nebraska
