Friday Focus
November 15, 2019
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!
Friday Focus is changing name and date!
From Mrs. Barry:
As Thanksgiving approaches, I want to tell all of you how thankful I am to a part of the amazing MWE family. Thank you for your support as I’ve transitioned into the Principal role. I’ve loved both getting reacquainted with old friends and getting to know new, and I so appreciate the partnership we have. Whether it is something small or big, I know I can reach out and – within minutes – have responses filling our need (or even just a simple want). I can’t imagine a more wonderful group, truly working together for the best of all of our Eagles.
Thank you for trusting me with your children. They are incredible! They make me laugh and think every single day! Whether I am greeting them in the morning, visiting in classrooms, or monitoring at lunch, I can’t help but smile at their great personalities and brilliant brains. The joy they bring are truly the reason I come to work each day.
I am also thankful for the fantastic staff we have at MWE. Their dedication and enthusiasm is without bounds. They love their jobs, and it shows! Always up for a new idea or challenge, while continuing to respect the “Meadow Wood way,” their professionalism and passion is the foundation for all of the amazing learning that happens with our Eagles. They love your children and do everything in their power to make their education experience the best it can be.
I hope you have time over the Thanksgiving break to reflect on those things for which YOU are thankful. As Aesop said, “Gratitude is the sign of noble souls.” Happy Thanksgiving!
Welcome home to MWE!

Parents are invited to watch their kids climb the rock wall and learn what it means to have a Rock Solid Character. If you have not yet done so, please submit your child’s permission slip. Mentors Needed!
Do you have 30 minutes a week to spend supporting a student who needs an adult connection? Would your company like to partner with MWE to provide mentors for our students? MWE is looking for caring adults to support our students!! SpringBoard mentors in Spring Branch ISD assist students in grades 3-12 by offering guidance, encouragement and support.
Mentors provide young people with the skills needed to address personal, school and home issues that may discourage them from reaching their potential. In just 30 minutes weekly, mentors supply the gift of hope to those they touch and give young people a vision of success.
Upcoming training dates are Monday, December 2, from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm, and Wednesday, December 4, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am, at the SBISD Administration Building. For more information, please click the link below or contact Amy Oxener at amy.oxener@springbranchisd.com or 713-251-6270.

We ask that you check out at the front office as soon as your child’s lunch has concluded (visitors should not return to the classroom with their student or visit any other area of the building without permission). Thank you!

Jennings Orthodontics is a valued supporter of MWE. Please show your love and appreciation by visiting Dr. Jennings for your orthodontic needs.
Dr. Brad Jennings is no ordinary orthodontist. Dr. Jennings was recently featured by the band KISS for his collection of memorabilia related to the band. As a patient, you can look forward to seeing lots of cool rock n’ roll memorabilia from some of your favorite bands.
School Bell Award
It's that time of year again! The MWE PTA must nominate one of its very own to the SBISD Council of PTAs for the School Bell Award. Help us decide who will represent MWE as an an outstanding SBISD Staff Member (teacher, administrator, counselor, specialist, etc.) who promotes the objectives of the PTA (in short - making sure every child's potential becomes his/her reality) and is an advocate for all children. If you know of someone who goes above and beyond for all of us at MWE, please take the time to nominate them.
Please send the name of your nominee and a description as to why you think they should win the School Bell award to Christina Gronauer at christina_gronauer@yahoo.com. Feel free to enlist the help of students for your nominations! Recent MWE recipients include Ami Rapp, Jessica Leonard and Natalie Waggenspack.
Please submit your nominations by December 13th. The winner will be announced in mid January and attend the Founder's Day Banquet in February. We look forward to reading them!
