ALA Book Club Central
Book Club Central could be a great additional resource for reader's advisory or for help choosing book club titles. I'm particularly excited to dig into the "Making Sense of a New America" reading list. What do you think?

Have you tried Meetup?
"Designed to help bring people together, Meetup.com can be a useful tool to market your programs and develop a micro-community."
Check out the Programming Librarian blog post Meet-huh? The Whats, Hows, and Whys of Meetup.com. Although it is not free to run groups on Meetup, it seems this site can be a powerful way of connecting to community members who are actively seeking out the kinds of activities and programs that libraries already offer. Some local RI Meetups have even approached libraries to act as hosts for their groups; perhaps libraries might consider doing the reverse and approaching existing groups to bring them into the library fold? The latter option does not require any paid subscription, but still allows libraries to take advantage of this potentially very effective tool.
Library Cards for the Homeless
"Long Island’s first library card program for homeless launches in Riverhead" This arcticle explains how one library took their support of the homeless community to the next level. Well worth your time to read and a great jumping off point to think about the ways in which we can all better serve our most vulnerable populations.
